The GPU was a luck find at microcenter. Looked in their bin-o-fans and saw a .45A 120x25mm fan for $4.99. Got it and I'm very pleased. Totally forgot the brand name though and getting it off requires shutting down, sorry. If it were a big name, I'd know it, so probably something neither of us have heard of. It does ~2,550RPM and is about as loud as the big fan, just higher pitched.
The CPU fan is a Scythe Ultra Kaze 3000RPM. It's a piece of crap. From a previous rant:Any high speed performance fans I get in the future will all be Panaflo. Scythe may make other good fans, but I'll never know because of my experience with their Ultra junk.I have a Panaflo FBA12G12U (.65A, 2950RPM, 119CFM) that has been going at 85% of full speed or higher for over a year and hasn't given any indication of having a problem.
Cut to last fall. I got two Ultra Kaze's because, hey, they're cheap. Would have been much better served getting ONE additional Panaflo. Not one, but both Kaze's have started making a horrible clicking noise. Except for benching sessions, they didn't run more than 80% of full speed and less than two months each. Won't ever make that mistake again.
I too like black fans. They don't make pretty LED fans that do what I need to...scream like the dickens and move a lot of air. I can make the system look just fine (IMHO) without LED fans.![]()
