Zolkorn, your scores are too low for CrossfireX; I almost got 25k with a single 4870 x2 and slightly higher clocks; see my sig. Clocks were 842/1000 and Q9550 @ 4.25ghz (8.5 x 500), 4x 2GB G.Skills @ DDR2 1000 5-5-5. Are you saying my single card beat your dual card with only a slightly cpu edge?

I am sure, your setup failed to function correctly as I get the your score with a single card and cpu at 4Ghz.

    Edit: Check this out: http://service.futuremark.com/result...&resultType=14

    Zucker2k, I guess you are talking about 3D Mark 2k6. In 2k6 I got 21421 3D Marks with Q9450 @3.8GHz(8x475MHz)/DDR2 @950MHz CL5 5-5-15/single 4870X2 @777/933MHz.

    So 22595 3D Marks with a QX9770 @4GHz/DDR2 @1000MHz CL4 4-4-12/dual 4870X2 @832/1000MHz seems extremly low. Something is wrong.

Well, I would like to see clock for clock comparisons of Yorkfield vs Deneb at 4GHz, which is the topic of this thread. So far, we have the 3D Mark 2k6 and Vantage CPU scores to compare, but these aren't enough to draw any conclusions, nor are representing the real world.

Yorkfield vs Deneb @ 4GHz performance
    --------------------------------------
    3D Mark 2006 CPU: 105.3%
    3D Mark Vantage: 117.2%
    --------------------------------------
    Average: 111.2%

I doubt that @ 4GHz Yorkfield is 11.2% faster than Deneb clock for clock in average. So, we need some more tests to be able to make an objective conclusion.

btw. i'm not sure is i'll can find X48 DDR2 board but i have X38 now maybe i'll used X38

X38 has dual PCI-e 2.0 x16, so it should perform fine. Keep up the good work, we're looking forward your scores.

wonder reason we see the 4k lower GPU score on Vantage with the 9770?

    WD Raptor
    GIGABYTE ODIN 1.2kW
    Vista SP1

btw. all system same time from first tried include software setting too but only mobo is different

I agree, there is something very suspicious about the GPU score. The GPU score should be similar, regardless of platform since it is a GPU-specific score (and obviously using ATi drivers).

Until I see that the scores are within 1% of so, I can't say I have much faith in any of the other numbers run here.

phenom generally score high GPU points but lower CPU points.

4.ghz core and 2.4gb nb seems too low, 2.6ghz NB would be better and try 2.7 and 2.8ghz NB if you can get them stable. on phenom II

GPU scores in almost every benchmark are impacted a lot by the CPU

Still though, it's obvious the chipset was holding it back with a pair of 4870X2s, especially now that X48 results were posted

    Thanks for the numbers Zolkorn

    Yep nice numbers.
BTW if you still can do it, can you post some Super Pi 1M and 32M scores?

X48 scores go along with what most people have said; PII is competitive (although can't beat) a Core 2 Quad so it's a nice upgrade for people who can drop it in.

Still a shame that AMD is basically 1 generation behind...they can't touch a i7 with Tri or 6 way SLI...(not like everyone has 6 way SLI anyway...)

nice work man, i too didn't think 940 would come out on top. there should be an i7 v.s PII comparison that's clock for clock.

Phenom IIs are very competitive CPUs,even for pure "benchmarks". They do great in real world gaming too
