Barely helps in 05 at these CPU speeds so it's not worth the bother if you know you can do it on CPU power alone

Now that they have 47k, it just leaves a little more room for them to spread their legs though

Congratz dude, just saw it at FM. You got your wing-mans name wrong in the project title though
So now we have an apples to apples comparison with the phenom 05 score VS Nehalem with the good driver? Did they even use the good driver? So now this is the overall AND official world record or no?

I could have easily done 47k on my other c0.

    You ask me?

I think it is as fun as it can be for anyone chasing wr's.
Regardless of "funding", "contacts", skills.. etc..etc.

Of course, in any competitions where hardware is involved it helps alot to have access to the best hardware.
If you do not have that, you will not set any world records. (Everything else equal).
If there are stringent rules, classes.. there could be another setting.
SB, SS, WRC, Pro-Stock? As in hardware-benching classes?

Personally I enjoy reading about benching and trying to make the best out of any "rig" I am working on.
    That is: "Compete" with myself.

it's nothing against you charles or anyone else for that matter.

it's just not been the case (as far as i recall) that we are claiming W.R.s on unreleased hardware

you know about this as well as you went out of your way to point out to me in Taiwan that Intel SSD drives you were using for W.R.s in final stages of competition are readily available at newegg to purchase which is fair enough...not that i really saw that as an issue..... new gen CPU or GFX different story

i thought that GFX guys used to wait till NDA is up and it's official announced and out for this kinda of claim.....i guess CPU is the other important one here...rest who cares...... if sampsa posted and claimed a W.R. on a DDR3 based AMD CPU i would say the same thing

My thinking is that records are records.
    I had this discussion before and used this analogy;
The standing track record at Talledega raceway is owned by Mercedes Benz with their factory one of a kind C-111.
You and I can't buy it no matter how much money we have but the record stands.
IBM I beleive holds the record with their Blue Genie as the top supercomputer.. Also something that is unbuyable.
The approved driver issue I understand but hardware is different and as Charles mentioned, there are others that have these chips.

Yes there are other chips out there now, I took advantage of the timing gap. It also helps to have good cooling.
