quick question about prime 95 and a quad core. is it normal when it finishes a test to go core 2,core 3,core 1,core 4.then after an hour or so its core2,core3,core4,core1.also why does it seem to be so far behind the actual time.for instance by the time the seventh test the actual time has been a little over 14 minutes?i did notice that when running 5:6 it seem to keep up with the time but 1:1 runs twice as slow.am i just being too picky here or is this a sign of clocks and volts not running in harmony?

Well guys the misteriuos things of hardware...For some reason I'm more stable on 8,5 multi at more FSB with less vcore than on 9 multi with less FSB and more vcore...

Nice clocks here guys.. I was able to Load and do some benchies at 4.275 Ghz.. with 1.34v in CPU-Z and 1.378 in BIOS. So I'm doing ok, still trying to decide what should be my 24/7 I've been running 4.0 for a while now, but I can do better with same temps.

I'm going water-cooling next week. so after I get that all setup, I think I might go for 4.3 Ghz 24/7 but that needs over 1.38v to be stable.. I'm ok to run this thing at 24/7 under water at 1.39v BIOS, and 1.45 VTT right?

Also Zucker, how are you liking that CM HAF, I'm seriously considering getting that case, it's sweet, and the big brother to my CM 690. Not to mention that it's Great for water, can fit dual 320 rad's in there. I have a PA 120.2 coming Monday. so maybe I'll get the HAF for all my new toys.

    Good one on the watercooling

    And go for 4.3Ghz 24/7

Thanks for the advice, I check ed out quite a few Blocks and the Xigmatek 1284 came out shinning in a few different reviews and for the price There was no beating it.. So hopefully here by Friday... And we'll try from there.. Odd thing my temps with this Zalman 9700 are reporting pretty low 30-30-31-32 iDLE depending on my vcore the highest was like 60-61-59-59 @ 1.25v...440 fsb

The other thing making me twitch is my CPU PLL its hovering at 1.63 and I havent been able to get it lower? even when I set it to 1.5 in my bios its up to 1.63 when I check the hardware monitor in the Bios??? Odd and i was reading somewhere that that high a PLL is a cpu killer??? how can I get it lower? even setting to auto in bios its still the same any ideas??

I had seen somewhere on another forum that you should run the cpu gtl at .67 for quad cores but I can see that some of you are not running this setting. What would be the best cpu gtl run with this cpu on an X48 mobo?

.63 was good for me on my x38 (same as x48) but on my p45 I run .675 so it changes

    I was using .63 on ASUS P5E3 X48 before and now +70mV

On another note what are peoples thoughts about 'running in' a new processor???

What do you guys do with new chips? Do people increase volts to the chip incrementally or go straight for 4Ghz+? Personally I don't think it makes much difference but my brother just got his one...and errr

Normally I have to raise the cpu gtls as I raise vvt. I start at .635 then usually have to raise it .005 for each .02 increase in vtt.

Great work there Celcius, all that work finally paid off! As you mention your VCORE is especially impressive to say the least! With that said could/would you post your other voltages (just the main ones, VTT, PLL, NB, SB, and GTL's)? Thanks man and great work!

radaja - I've also got the same exact chip (well same stepping anyway) with the same VID however I've yet to push mine past 3.6Ghz. However I've got all day off tomorrow and I'm hoping to start pushing this thing a bit, can't wait!

Zucker2K - I see you mention your temps are stuck, just to be clear your temps don't change at all despite load (I ask because one of my cores is stuck). My CORE3 temps don't go below 38C no matter what, however as the loads rise the temp will go above 38C, just never below. Even though its not a bit deal it annoyes me big time (it must really stink to have all 4 cores stuck)!

Its tough to read this thread each night about how well everyones Q9650's are clocking but not being able to work on your own system (although I'm very greatful to have a job at all)! I will definately try to post my results ASAP as long as I'm able to get some decent results that is, lol! Keep pushing it guys!

The UD3P takes a little time to get the hand but then you will see the amazing results. Some boards are very different then others that's why some templates will be hit and miss. My Rev 1.1 template won't work on my Rev 1.0 board.

You'll get there Roger, this is by far one of the best cpu's I had! Loads of fun breaking records, air priming etc. But job comes first these days

The HAF is definitely a great case; highly recommended; as you already seem to know much about it's capabilities, I can't say much.

Guys, here are some results from testing this chip (L834A957 1.25 vid) on a Maximus Formula these past nights:

    fsb: 430x9
    vcore: 1.28
    pll: 1.5
    nb: 1.58
    fsb: 1.3
    strap: 333

Ran prime small blend for more than 8 hours straight

    fsb: 440x9
    vcore: 1.32
    pll: 1.58
    nb: 1.61
    fsb: 1.4
    strap: 333

Ran prime small blend for more than 8 hours straight

    fsb: 445x9
    vcore: 1.39
    pll: 1.58
    nb: 1.7
    fsb: 1.4
    strap: 333

Stable for more than 1 hour now

All Temps are looking good with H2O, around 35-40c

Seems like I have to pump alot more volts into the cpu and nb in order to get over 4ghz with this board and chip, scared to pump more, am I at a limit with this board?

Right now this looks to be the highest I am able to go stably with this board. It doesnt matter what settings I change or how much more voltage I give it, it will not pass anything higher. Ive been playing with this for a coupe days now and it always fails after the 2nd test or the 4th test on p95 8k. So I guess Ill give the UD3P at try and maybe some ddr3 ram this time. Any suggestions on some good clocking ddr3 ram?

i'm also having trouble reaching 500fsb. right now i'm at 490 and i can't get the last few mhz in. i suspect that it's my memory not letting me go higher, but is there any way i can find out for sure? i'm using crucial ballistixs (yeah i know, it's crucial ) and it won't boot at 5-5-5-18 so i loosened the timing to 6-6-6-20. i'll post a template for all my settings later.

most of the time, the unstability shows when the whole computer freezes instead of certain cores failing when priming. is this memory problem is do i need to tune something else?

    9x500

These chips can boot into windows at very low volts, but keeping them stable is the problem.
