Wow, I'm glad I found this post...David...if I can "hijack" your post briefly...

Long story short... "killed" my P5B-D rev 1.03g MB last month w/ a bad OC job. RMA'd to Asus as I was still within 2 year warranty....not honestly expecting them to help me out...yesterday I received from them a P5B-D rev 1.04g MB in a bag...no cables, screws, etc... I'm assuming either it's a new board or a 're-conditioned" one? Within the next 2-3 days I'll have time to hook everything up.

Some of the posts in this thread I think help to explain why my original 1.03 rev MB failed...of course, 90% of it was my fault as I got carried away per usual... ( and I used the "1237" bios, which, I notice, is no longer listed at the Asus site) What is this "C1" or "C2" along with the rev number? Where is that info? And, what does C1 or C2 mean?

I'm hoping my poor previous OC did not damage any other components besides the MB... I'll soon find out. At Anand's site, some of the guys felt I'd do better w/ 4 gig 2x2 of this G Skill memory for my OC's:

...rather than the Corsair ddr2-800 XMS26400c4 (4 x1 gig sticks) that I have now... thoughts?

So, to sum up.... I have an E8400, the new Asus P5B-D rev 1.04g MB, and the Corsair mem....and a GTX280 on the way from newegg. I'm looking to get between a 3.6 and a 4.0 OC....nothing radical...

    What do you all think?

There is lots of knowledge of this particular MB on this thread....

    Thx for any input...
