    C2D E8700 is here

How come no info or reviews on this? I wonder how much it'll cost.

in the era of cheap quads, who cares about any duals?
Adobe is working on Flash Player support for 64-bit platforms as part of our ongoing commitment to the cross-platform compatibility of Flash Player. We expect to provide native support for 64-bit platforms in an upcoming release of Flash Player following the release of Flash Player 10.1.

Should be great if they clock like the 8600's. It's strange nothing has been heard about them, I'd definitely like to see some results.

Should be a great chip for gaming if you can crank it up super high. Would be nice to game on a dual core at 4.6GHz or something.

This should definitely be a 7Ghz chip with the way process has matured nicely. 7Ghz is 100% oc afterall.

Shouldn't be much better than E8600, as we are limited by the cpu not by its FSB capabilities like on the Quads (e.g. Q9450). Remember we got 10x multi on E8600 and 460 or 470 should be easy, even on X38 chipsets or something similar.

10.5 x 666 is what it'll take. I say it's definitely doable. I certainly think it'll give nehalem a run for its money on hwbot.

    I do.

You are just downplaying Duals because AMD don't have a Dual Core worth sh1t.

I think the Quads are still too expensive, so getting a cheap, but still powerful enough Dual Core now, knowing one can upgrade to a Quad later when the prices come down, has its merits.

I might pickup a E8600 if it drops that much in price so it would cost around same as E8500 and aim for 9x500 = 4.5GHz. That and DDR2-1200 5-5-4-10 would be a nice 24/7 config. I have a great P35 FSB clocking mobo sitting here screaming for more than what my poor old C0 E8400 can offer. But on a 2nd thought Lynnfield is simply too close, so the prices would have to change quick for me to concider.

I know they made a 3.5GHz Wolfdale in the LGA771 package. It says "launched" yet there are no places selling it Plus there are no order/box codes.

Your general argument for duals are correct, but not for this specific one, when it probably retails at 2xx bucks.

Not too sure but check the guru3D Phenom II review. They had a E8XXX thrown in for good measure and the results in gaming are rather different from normal preconceptions...

Would be cool if some1 would be able to pull a 666x10.5 FSB suicide shot, that's almost breaking the 7GHz barrier. xD Wasn't the current E8xxx highest clock frequency around 6.8GHz?

Hmm maybe very good samples of E8700 could allow for stable 5.0GHz on air.
