did the chip come at a default of 2ghz HT speed? not that it matters since its an ES and will have different settings anyway. also i would be interested in how high u can get that HT link stable.

Very Nice cdawall! I'm jealous man...

Your running this on a DDR2 board right? AMD is definetly on the right track, those scores will only get better when we get decent boards with DDR3, and it looks like Mobo manufactures are starting to take notice....

Gratz on the new chip man...

I'm sure that he is going to get the same results with this 945 than with the 940, the gap will be seen when ddr3 mobo and ram come.

Yes, it still is RB-C1, only with enabled DDR3 support.
If rumor was true, then this chip paired with DDR3 might have very small advantage over DDR2 and/or some stability problems.

On the other hand we have proof that Deneb has DDR3 IMC, only AMD for some reason disabled it for AM2+ RB-C2 revision.
I'm still waiting for first leaked picture of RB-C3 stepping (AndreYang do you hear me )

So essentially this thing is no different in terms of OCing than a 940 except has a cpl 200 extra mhz and can run ddr3? I just want to make sure here

pretty much the only real difference between the two chips is DDR3

2600MHz is the motherboard's limit, that's why it resets.

    from dfi:
    HyperTransport 3.0 (5200MT/s [2600MHz] for AM2+) HyperTransport 1.0 (2000/1600MT/s [1000/800MHz] for AM2)

    from asus same story:
    Up to 5200 MT/s; HyperTransport™ 3.0 interface for AM2+ CPU
    2000 / 1600 MT/s for AM2 CPU

I know, But I am refering to why the HT link drops from 1800 to 1600 when my NB is above 2600. I can set my NB to 2800mhz in the bios, and leave the HT auto, which is 1800, but once into windows, HT is now at 1600 and NB is still at 2800...See what I mean?..I just found it odd.

First,, Nice ES and clocks ..

Second,, As for HT and Auto HT setting.

Look @ HT as the optimal freqency the mobo likes to run @ 2800nb.. A long time ago with phenom ive found that optimal Freqency on the HT can be a lot lower than what one would think you should run.

The HT is the main factor for stability on most mobos for the Chip to Run high Freqencies. Sometimes it takes less HT to make this optimal and sometimes Mobos like More HT to run optimal. In essence it is the Speed of NB and CPU which gives the performance while the HT gives the stability
    .

I dont know an easier way to say that. It looks like that the HT lowers to the next best (100% stable freqency) when set on auto , that would be a good thing.

On a mobo thats rated for 3000HT you should see this when set HT to Auto. Now for mobo that can run more (5200ht), id say it will drop down once you get up to 5200+ . Once you reach its max HT point on Auto it should want to drop back down.

Agian it looks as if the Mobo is setting optimal HT vs highest HT..again this is what you would want. The mobo should always be running at its best HT freqency or (Optimal )to keep everything stable " Not its Highest HT freqency".

    Lastly ,,
HT or Bios setting on Auto if it senses instability ,even when you are only running a chip @ 1800x2 =3600ht . Ive found it wiill/can lower the HT to a freqency that makes things more stable or Raise it to match what the CPU wants.Even if 1800ht is the default for a given chip.

Ive always used a Manual HT setting (never Auto). I simply dont use AUTO because it may choose to the lower the HT instead of raising it Higher which also could be stable . Ive found that in Most cases Slightly higher or Lower HT freqencies could both work Manually. But on Auto it would default to the best lower freqency to keep things stable.

In all if the NB is @ 2600mhz and it likes lower HT freqency(ON AUTO) thats not a bad thing. By all means i would try to set it (Manualy) while using different dividers and or HTT . Youll find that you should be able to get your HT back up 1800+.

    Well thats my 2cents worth

Note: if you want 1800+ HT ..
Play with the HTT and use a lower HT divider untill your At the HT speed you want . Above 2600 it will default to 1800(most 5200ht mobos). So use HTT and HT dividers to keep the HT below its max it wont default. I can run 2600ht easy @ 2600nb,, i must use a HT of 10x 260= 2600 . In your case if NB is at 2800 and if the HTT is set high say 260 the Auto HT would see this maybe not set the correct limit .Instead of exceeding the limit it yould try to default to 1800ht.

    EXAMPLE:
10xht 260htt = 2600x2 or 5200ht.. this is on the edge,,I use manual to get it, Auto will default the HT

9xht 260htt = 2340x2 or 4680ht .. this would keep under the Max HT,, Auto may work or may default.

Anyways i always use a Manual HT setting.
