I can do 100-101 without any issues. 102-105MHz seems kind of random here wich makes it unusable.

I have upped the voltage about 0.1v but as it made no difference what so ever I did not test higher.

ahh... I was thinking last night perhaps it's the ICH voltage that needs a bump here... isn't that the southbridge (ICH10)?

I had to restore my vista 64 partition from an image - where my 32 bit xp has crashed maybe 50 times and still comes back just fine each time. maybe restore from a previous image?
I finally had to break out the Vista64 DVD to do a repair after a system hang trying to run Crossfire at higher than stock clock speeds. I got an immediate BSOD upon boot saying that ecache.sys was corrupted. All is well after the repair though.

Amazingly, I had no such issues as I overclocked the hell out of this i7 while keeping the memory at 800mhz with tight timings and at least 30-40 BSODs while testing.

Select start windows normally... carry on.
980x build underway. 2600k commencing soon.

Guys, I need some help. I have the extreme version, bios F5C.

I just took out my 920 and put in a 940 and my PC turns on for 1 sec, then turns off and continues this loop.

I've tried resetting the cmos, I've removed the battery for about 30 seconds.

Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it?

Do you think that maybe the CPU isn't seated correctly?

Try putting your 920 back in.

For my part I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream.

did you unplug anything accidentally (8pin)?

Ok, I think I found out the problem. I looked at the socket and I think some pins got bent. I didn't lay it flat when I changed out the CPU because of my reservoir, so when I tried closing the cpu socket, it must have bent a couple of pins because the CPU slid down a little.

Has that happened to anyone else? Can I bend it back or do I have to buy a new board?

Looks like I am going to have to buy a new board. I'm not going to RMA it because I'm sure when they see the pins it will give it away.

So, would you guy buy Gigabyte again? I really hate the long boot times.

You could just send the board back for repair. Shoot off an e-mail to Gigabyte and get an estimate. I imagine it'll be a hell of a lot cheaper than buying a brand new unit.

I had the same problem and successfully RMA'd the board. The only difference was the computer ran fine for about 2 hours then started that reboot cycle. I have seen a few reviews on Newegg describing this issue and they all RMA'd. Good luck!

I need some help, i tried got stable using these bios settings:

    bclk - 200
    ratio - 20
    Turbo - disable
    HT - enable
    QPI - 1.31V
    CPU - 1.425
    Ram - 1.66v

    I coudn`t get stable, but with 190 * 21, i can use vcore with 1.40 ( vdropp 1.375 idle, 1.36 load ) stable.

    Bios F4N.
    Sorry for my bad english.

Both of my LAN ports are dead - more specifically they repeatedly turn themselves on and off rapidly. I'm on F5D now, so will be trying the power-down, remove cable and clear CMOS trick. Hopefully that'll fix it.

I've also found that the RAM timings have a severe effect on Windows performance and I've still not got them right - some memory intensive apps just crash. While the DRAM settings were on 'turbo' (the default), the audio devices in Windows were running 1% too fast.

I wish I hadn't been a cheapskate and had bought the ASUS. I'm also kinda hoping that the LAN ports are dead so I can RMA this thing.

I have the same problem I need 1.44vcore load to get 200X20 stable but 21X191 is stable with much less vcore.

The 21 multi is also the sweet spot for my 965.
I have checked so many other multi's - none of them work as good as the x21.
I can do 21x211 with ht off and 21x202 with ht on - both prime stable, I had to go to water to be able to do this though - temps just got too high on air.

I decided to go out locally and pick up a board. They had the Asus P6T and P6T deluxe. i bought the deluxe.

It boots up fine now. Installing chipset drivers now and then will start to OC it.

hey, i am new to this board, so hi how are you guys doing?

anyway i have the ud5 version of this board, and as soon as i up the voltage of qpi/vtt up to 1.3 or higher i will not be able to post with cmos reset, is this a bios issue, should i go back to F3 version, as of now i am using the f4 version from gigabyte's website. or is it possibly a hardware issue?

if its a bios issue, which are you all findind the best?

I am on Bios version F5E of the EX58 Extreme board, so far... 0 problems... i don't have cold boot problems.

Still priming... since 04:00AM til now 19:54 (my time) at 19x200, Vcore 1.3v in Bios (1.276v idle, 1.24v full in cpu-z). My chip just don't like 4GHz and low voltages so i am sticking to 3.8GHz until i get a new chip...

Cannot confirm about resuming from sleep mode since i have it disabled.

So what exactly holds back an i7 from running higher BLCK's? Is it the QPI speed from the CPU that limits how high of BLCK you get? I haven't had any luck getting 211Mhz stable with my current chip. I've tried it with a lower CPU multiplier of 18x and 19x and I've lowered the memory ratio to 6x to try and take the memory out of it but it still fails LinX within a few seconds. I bumped the QPI/Vtt voltage all the way up to around 1.5v and that still didn't get it stable. It doesn't BSOD when it fails neither, it just hard locks and I have to manually restart the computer. Usually when testing with the 21x multi and a lower BLCK it will BSOD when its unstable due to the CPU needing more vCore.

Maybe explore the other voltages? What vcore are you trying to pass 211 at? HT on as well I assume?
I havent had luck over 215 without HT on my chip
