I love AMD. AM2 was not an improvement over my 939. Phenom I wasn't anymore mhz's than we were already hitting. Phenom II has gotten them back in the game.

Like it or not... intel is still on top.
socket G34 (1974 LGA) twin shanghai's two IMC and Ht3.0 DDR3. Later on 12 core.

I'm guessing they're going to use NUMA on those chips and that would give about 40 gbs of memory bandwidth if they do. If they don't you'll see 30 gbs.

That is a aidto be a sever socket though.

    (ps 938+938=1876/socket g34 has 98more pins lol)

Is the first pic a fake? First it's the 100 MHz faster 950, then they call the Phenom II X3 a quad-core?

    Question

When are AM3 boards supposed to be out and what's up with some dual core AM3 chips?

    Let a nickel know.

I want Black Edition but I don't want to get AM2+ version ( My Phenom 9950BE already serve me well @ 3GHz , I will only consider upgrade with AM3 Phenom II )

Should I wait for Phenom II 950

Is that a problem if they both shows up on the same day?

It doesn't have to be the case(that 945 will be locked). We had two 65nm BE chips at the same time,in the past.9850 and 9950 BE are still on sale, both are fully unlocked.

the reason why he said it might be locked is because the 945 and 950 are being released at the same time.

yea i was going to say the same. the 9850 was released and was soon followed by the 9950 and both had unlocked multis. i wouldn't be surprised if amd had them both unlocked especially since it would be confusing having the 940 unlocked and 945 locked.

I just noticed that since my post in which I noticed the 950 listing on pconline, all major sites picked up the news . It's funny, since pconline review is there for some time already.
    Oh well .

but it makes sense... anyhow Q2 is still far away, and all those listings are just assumptions...

what's really interesting is new X3 720 Black Edition that's just around the corner
