Update from Asus on the TDP limit issue (I quote the email reply to me)
"I've put forward your test procedure to TPE HQ for check.
Our engineer is testing and studying this issue now.
We didn't consider putting the TDP/TDC limit option to our BIOS menu at initial design because this function is no useful to our boards.
Our designer is now checking whether we should put this function in our BIOS menu.
It will takes some time. Anyway, I'll update the statue if I got news.
Thanks"

Yeah well it seems as tho they got it all worked out. I dont know how really but i know my ram is kinda like wants more voltage than the default settings is thats on the board.
But now I wont get my board till sumtime tommorrow. hopefully.. coz they still doing all the cables n that and they closed at 4 so its about 3pm now in australia.
But I will have a check through the bios to make sure everything is alrite and stuff and see if they either added the lattest bios or what in.
Do u think i shuld update the bios aneway just incase?
But i will get myself a tripple set memory in time though.
How did u get ur board running? did u get urself a new pair of tripple set memory or did u get ur comp in service just for it to post with the same memory as i have?
That's good,least you got it soughted out,yeah I would deffently upgrade to the latest bios,depends what you got as a bios,my board had a really early bios,the latest is 903,but I found that 805 bios works the best for me.
Yeah I was going to use the old 4gb from the striker 2 extreme board,but decided to sell it of and grab the tripple kit of corsair dominator,pccasegear have it going for around $509 I think,it was actually cheaper to buy the new 6gb tripple kit of corsair dominator than my old 4gb kit of corsair dominator for the striker board,which was around $800.
I put the new system together and it booted up straight away,and it absolutely runs like a dream compared to my old striker 2 extreme board.
I think once you get the ram soughted out,you won't have any problems.

(New build):MSI Big Bang X-power II with XSPC MB blocks, Core I7 3930k@4.6Ghz with HT on, 3x GTX 480 SLI with EK Waterblocks(for now), X-fi Titanium, Gskill quad kit 16GB 2133mhz, 2x240GB Corsair GT SSD's(raid 0), 3xWD 2TB drives, Silverstone Strider ST1500 Watt, Dell3007WFP and 2x Samsung 305T's. Water loop: EK HF CPU block, XSPC RX480 Rad, Coolgate GC480, Airplex Revolution 420 Rad, 2x DDC 3.25 18W with EK dual top, Caselabs STH10 white with customizations....
Thats odd coz the 4 gig dominator pack only cost me about $649
But aneway I could build a another comp up since the striker II board had the QX9770 cpu in it with the Zalman 9700NT and all it really needs is the memory and I was thinking of upgrading the second computer with the striker II with it and ram n cpu in it. But it does have a less powerful graphics card tho.. (7600GT) till i get myself either a pair of the new cards, that either Ati or nvidia will release new beast cards by the time Im ready to upgrade the cards.
But the really good thing is that with this board i wont be stuck with one graphics card vendorand also im pretty sure when i overclock the 920 it be prolly be faster than the current QX9770 cpu.
But i was also thinking gettin the 965 in the begining but then thort nah.. Intel is going to make the 12mb cache extreme cpu for the i7 so it be kinda a waste to get that. So i thort just get the 920 since its easily to overclock and maybe a bit hot but my cpu cooler will dealt with it
Man not having my board at the momment, does make things boring around here.
All the things i need is the CREATIVE Sound Blaster X-Fi TITANIUM FATAL1TY CHAMPION Series, CORSAIR TR3X TRIPLE PACK DOMINATOR 6gig (3x2gig DDR3) TR3X-1600C8D 1600mhz
and the 2 powerful graphics card. But this time i be doing a good research on which out of the 2 is the fastest for gaming and the games i play as well when im ready to upgrade the video cards.

Glad to see you're making progress izzy. I hope you get that thing going. Sometimes these things can be a little finicky to get running. I had a small issue with a video card that actually worked when I setup my system, but would red light and just stop working. It was a pain in the butt to diagnose because my PSU was good and everything, and the card would only do it radomly, but thank goodness I went with EVGA and they got me taken care of. I had a card cross shipped and installed and got it going. They have alot of options for RMA's there. It came in handy too.
Sometimes, like in this case, a piece of hardware just doesn't wanna cooperate even though it works fine on another system. The trick is to isolate it. I guessed the RAM because of the voltage. I figured that was a likely suspect. It IS odd though that the LCD Poster did not go through to the DET RAM string though. That's kinda unusual.
It would be highly unsual to have a DOA board. It does happen, but it is the last thing I would suspect until I had ruled everything else out. I'm glad they looked that thing over and got you going.

Okay, here's my 4.2Ghz OC SuperPI test. I follow the guide a few pages back.
Crappy memory: DDR3-1333 running as DDR3-1600 in 2N (2T) Timing.
Memory timing as: 10-10-10-24 2N
1M = 09.906s
32M = 10m 51.687s
Memory timing as: 9-9-9-24 2N
1M = 09.875s
32M = 10m 48.328s
Temp sucks as all cores (@1.48125V) were hovering around 75 (ouch!) under loaded.
Going to lower the vcore little by little to see how low I can go without sacrificing stability.
Now running with vcore of 1.40000V and running OCCPT torture test on the CPU. Next target is 1.35000V.
Also, will try 1N (1T) to see if it is stable (somehow I highly doubt it) but it's worth a shot.
VDimm is currently at 1.6346V (or something - down from 1.65481V or something). Gonna also try just 1.6V and see how it goes.
I should also mention that HT is Disabled.

Check out this NB/SB cooler from EK for the rampage II extreme. I haven't seen it before, has anyone tried it yet? Plus there is a new EK Supreme LT that was just added to their site today....I wonder how well this one cools, it seems cheaper....

I'm glad Engineers at Asus are currently Researching the problem. I think we got the message across to them haha. Were likely to see a bios in a month to 6 weeks with the option. Good job guys![]()

Hey Bringer, what VTT/QPI are you using to get to 216?
Appears my CPU is a fat lazy dog as T-flight suggested. Gonna give it another go tomorrow morning, wish me luck!
By the way, I'm using the EK full block for this board. Check pics on previous page. All in all it does the job but mounting has lots of room for improvement.
Lou.
Okay, lowering 2N to 1N was a no go, couldn't even complete a 32M test. Lowering DDR3-1600 with 9-9-9-24 to DDR3-1200 with 8-8-8-20 gave me a score of: 1M = 09.850s and 32M = 09m 30.656s. So, a lower frequency and latency proves to be a better performer than high frequency and latency.

Yeah Same here. Well its going to be a annoying case rather actually coz when i get it i only have a few hours to do things on it like configure raid 0 with it, install vista and drivers, then format the raid 0 parition and then most likely update the bios but then i may not even had time to install ane games.. Coz by the time i do, it be either afternoon or nite time n thats where i have to sleep early for work on saturday... Ahhh..
In ur signature on the memory about the Adata memory.. We do sell them here in the austraila but how come u dont have it avaiable in ur area yet?
