If you are willing to keep the proc. at 4.4GHz just for gaming and browsing you may as well disable all but two cores. That will allow you to clock higher/more stable with lower voltages.

IMHO it kind of defeats the purpose if you do not run HT on though on i7. You may as well be using a C2D then. i7 CPU is intended for using it with all 8 threads, but I guess it depends on everyone's workload. I need all 8 threads when doing development.
Im priming right now and I will keep it @ 4.2. But i have to disagree with you. If you are gaming/general Windows Vista usage the 8 threads do absolutely nothing. I think Vista 64 runs snappier with the 4 cores. Stable for me is doing @least 4 hours of Prime95 blend. Im not the 24 hour kind......If you have speciaal needs like development then 8 threads may be interesting. I can prime @ 4.2 with turbo and ht on but i think the temps are to high and the 4 extra threads give me nothing but higher temps and higher power usage..........
