Finally, I noticed the price of the q9950 went up at the Egg again yesterday. I want a q9550, if I could just get 4ghz + 24/7 I would be one happy camper.

Until you actually drop a chip into it, that 420 limit is nothing but a myth.

Here's the drop in you mentioned Q6600 --> Q9650 and he was planning.

And then he brings the fact that despite the inferior price of the 920, he would have to buy a new mobo and some DDR3 which would kill the bang for buck.

    Got it genius?

So yes, he's speaking about upgrading his Q6600

I blame Hector Ruiz for running AMD into the ground. Intel does what is expected of them, like any other monopoly.

Easy to blame, hard to fix. Amd is in a big pit right now and Intel is not even really trying since core 2

Hector didn't really help Intel all that much. Intel did that internally by developing top notch stuff and letting it sell itslef. They've made a few strategic decisions along the way, and have made good buisness decisions, and that's what has kept them on top. They just keep pumping out top of the line stuff.

Intel is not a Monopoly yet. AMD has just about handed that to them, but not quite yet. It's looking like that may happen pretty soon though.

Are you trying to say that the Maximus Formula only does 420FSB... I highly doubt that. I used to own a Rampage Formula with a Q9450 (8x multi), and I was able to do 494MHz FSB stable.

Are you referring to the gimped Denebs? It will be interesting how a L3-less Deneb will perform. If warranted I'm sure Intel will match their prices for that low end segment as well.
