There must be some ram setting or NB setting not 100%. Can you try one dimm at a time ( so remove one plz )

    Here you : Hyperpi

Just select the 32Mb test and 2 cores... if the ram survives that you are wel on ya way
    I have Vista 64 Bit .
Any option i must use cause the program crashes during use ?

Memtest test 7 stresses ram and NB, if it errors out try upping the NB voltage and try to play a bit with the NB GTL values... How many passes of memtest are we talking about ? if you encountered this same behaviour on the P35 then it could well be that the CPU has issues mate... though 450FSB really isn't anything special... what happens if you try 445FSB ? ram at 1066Mhz

Disable the sound and the aero glass theme ( both options can be selected in the hyperpi program : top right )

Only two, that's usually enough for me, but I tested it at 425*8.5 not, 450*8.5.

I'll have another play tomorrow, time is somewhat limited atm.

I tried the modified bios in the other thread, helped a little, instead of crashing the mem test almost instantly it took 5 minutes..

Hi! I've been reading the forums for a while now and I've come to the point where I need some guidance. I'm trying to get my E8400 rock stable at 4500Mhz. With my current setting it runs Prime95 64bit v25.8 build4 for 12h Small FFTs with no error, but fails Large FFTs just after about 2h and IBT on around the seventh loop. Here're my settings:

    This thread is HUGE!!!

I finally ordered a P45 (P5Q-Deluxe) to see if I can get my quad (Q9550 E0 ES) higher than on my current board (P5K-Premium). Grabbed an open-box off NewEgg for $124 shipped. I also have 4x1GB Ballistx D9's.

Can anyone recommend the best BIOS for this setup?

    Thanks!

Not sure on the 4x1 balistix but I suggest bios 1406 from Asus.

    Hey Martin v.r I have a Q6700 too, what's your VID?

Also, could you share your P5Q DLX settings with me? I've been having occasional BSOD and I'm pretty sure they're not because of low vcore, there must be something else happening here.

    Thanks

Damn! You have a great VID! Mine is 1.3000

I'm currently at 425X8 which is enough for me. I got to 3800 once with my previous board (a gigabyte X38) but it wanted too much vcore for 24/7 operation at that frequency. Also tried 450X8 back then but it wanted 1.49v in BIOS to be stable.

So I satisfied myself with 3400 at the time, with 1.39v. But now with the P5Q DLX it doesn't want that many volts. I'm currently with 1.31825 set in BIOS at it is OCCT 15min stable, which is enough for me. The BSOD's must be coming from somewhere else - maybe because I switched the X38 for the DLX without reinstalling Vista 64 (yeah, maybe).

anyway, very soon I'll be cleaning up the box, put in the new backplate for the xigma and throw away the pushpins, and then, well, maybe I'll put windows 7 inside the animal and watch it squirm. Maybe the BSODs will go away. And maybe, just maybe I will try again 450X8 with less than 1.40v. That would be my goal after this.

In any case, currently I have everything voltage related in AUTO except VDIMM (1.80), because this board overvolts and my g.skills don't like too many juice, and vcore. I'm not sure about keying in 1.44 for NB and 1.36 for FSB. Looks like a lot to me... I dunno

Would you recommend a P5Q Deluxe over Maximus I Formula, for Q6600?
I have a Maximus i Formula running Q6600 @ 3,6 for 24/7 for a year now, and all I can say that its a very stable board! My friend asks me, that what would I recommend him now, Maximus Formula or P5Q Deluxe?

Are there any driver problems when I change my board from X38 to P45? The system will be stable, or I need to reinstall it?

Yeah, the DLX for what I could see so far, is a great board for overclocking. I can maintain lower vcores than with my previous X38. It's pretty damn stable, the loadline calibration works great and it's a cheap board!

I would also recommend you to reinstall everything. I did a board transplant (swapped the X38 for the DLX) because I couldn't spare the time for reinstallation due to work deadlines, and while everything ran smooth in the first two weeks, now I'm having occasional BSODs, probably due to USB driver conflicts. You should definitely resinstall everything to stay safe.

Thanks for the info. I found a Max II Form for $146 shipped, so I'm sending the P5Q-D back.

I have the Sanyo PLV-Z4. Had the PLV-Z2 before that. Big screen FTW!

8 GB Ram Kit that will work on the P5Q-D @ PC 1066 or better?

Sorry if this has been answered here before, but I'm trying to find a good quality memory kit(s) that will go up to 8 Gb on this board, but not cripple my OC. Anybody try this? If so, any recommendations?

My friend runs 2 sets of OCZ Reaper 2x2GB DDR1066. It runs fine with 8GB and he's running it at 1066 but has not tried to push it yet, he just set 2.14V and its been rock stable. (everthing else is OC'd just not the ram, so it will at least hit that minimum.

On a side not...Some help please. I just built a P5Q-D rig last night with the above ram and a Q9650. I"m getting constant BSOD in any game, and even a couple from Vista64 desktop. I've tried 3 different bioses, ram timming is set correctly as well. I have read somethigns about setting "cpu margin enchancement' to performance for quads to fix some BSOD issues...anyone done that here?

Thanks for the recommendation...I've looked on Newegg, and the price is pretty good too.

As far as your question goes, yes, I run CME switched to performance mode on my system...otherwise, it's unstable. So you should certainly give that a try. Of course, nobody has any idea what CME is, but for some configurations, that's the difference stable and unstable rig.

I run cme in performance mode, but just to stretch the last bit of stability out of my setup. Optimized was fine for me up to 480fsb. I would try the official 1406, Ket's bios are good but its still worth a try. I'd also suggest running Memtest in windows with 4 instances to rule out the ram.
