Does that look OK? The CPU voltage seems a bit high...

CPU voltage differs from CPU to CPU mate, that's for you to find out. If your quad runs happily at 1.25Vcore set it like that...
Templates are what works for once's specific hardware... I would just take them as a guideline and would always start a bit lower on the volts ( surely FSB term voltage ) and work ya way slowly up eg from 450 to 475 or whatever FSB you require.

what about clock skews?

1) it's like dropping a half on the Performance level so eg you set PL 9 and with all pull ins enabled you should get 8.5PL in performance... doesn't work on all biosses and differs from board type to board type

2) GTL tuning could be required : test ya CPU with small FFT and if eg it's always the same core that caps out try lowering the first value till it gains in stability (write that figure down), at a certain moment it will become unstable again (write it down) and go half way for the final setting... GTL tuning can take some but is a MUSt with modern quads with high FSB action

3) I never had to use PCI E voltage this high, I always lef tit on AUTO , but some users claimed it overvolted ( I don't even know where to read this value on these boards via a DMM, think it is pure speculation on their behalf)

If you remember the problem i had.

The result is the same, at High FSB (over 430Mhz) and using the system playing, the system freezes like with the CPU before.

The only thing is to hope that Asus solve this little problem.

At the moment My system runs 420x10 CPU FSB and Memory is @560Mhz, no issues and all voltages at minimum SB 1.20 NB 1.20 CPU 1,25V.

I will give you more feedback if i find something new.

Don't think it has got anything specific to do with the board mate, maybe more a setting or something with ya rams or PSU not being 100% okay or compatible. I even gamed at 550FSB daily and never had this freezing issue you seem to have... You had this on the MF II too and not on the Commando...

OK i have a asus P5Q3 deluxe, an intel E8600, and gskill ddr3 1600 RAM, I so far have only been able to over clock it to 4.4 Ghz stable, with my CPU voltage at 1.462. With at 10x CPU ratio with and FSB of 440. But i see that theres alot of diff. options i could change to maybe get it faster. I want to try to push 5 GHz on this CPU, but i cant keep it stable. I would like to know even if the mobo is able to do that. And if it is how can i do that.

P.S. temp. is not a problem at 4.4Ghz on a full load its still running a 25 to 29 C.

If you think that your CPU puts out 29°C at 4.4Ghz either you are running chilled water or your temp read outs are completely bugged... 5ghz daily is a no go, forget about that unless running phase cooling... In your case I would try to stabilise 9 x 500 with 1600Mhz ram speed

No, i am using for a case is the xclio advance wind tunnel, then for a cpu cooler the Ultra chilltec CPU cooler. Pretty much the best cooling combo for air.

Now if i pass to 430Mhz FSB independent of Memory Clock the system Freezes in High Stress Games.

For example @450x9 FSB,Memory @ 1080Mhz and PL10 i searched stability with IBT and other Softwares and My system was 100% Stable,naturally the voltages are higher @ this FSB but in High Stress Gaming it Freezes after a while.


I wish i could stabilize My System at a Higher FSB like 450x9 or 500x8 for a higher bandwith of Bus.
I know that 420x10 is a very good result but it is nice to play with Bus too.

Maybe i have to set GTL but i am not shure how to proceed to find right setting.

Using my sig system, I managed to OC to 2.97ghz, stable. Then by changing the FSB frequency from 366 -> 400 without changing anything else, I got 3.2ghz... at first. It's actually bouncing back and forth between 2.4ghz & 3.2ghz... I'm guess that means I need to raise the voltage a bit to really suport that FSB?

Edit: I couldn't even go back to 2.97 stable using the previously good values. So now I re-loaded all defaults and my core speed is ranging from 2ghz to 2.3ghz I'm thinking it has to do with the bios and my q9450 not liking it... I've heard problems with them in the past. I should mention I've been using mbios 1406 from Ket. I'm going to try the newer bios version from Asus at this point and hope for better results... I'm not sure what else I can do.

Any thoughts/suggestions??

after some quick PM's to Leeghoofd about some E8400 clocking i found a stable 4.0Ghz OC with my stock cooler.. and yesterday when i booted, NOTHING happened so i tried again and saw the boot logo. But the logo went away much faster than it should have and i got a new screen saying i need to recover my bios

so here i am at stockspeeds wondering if i did something wrong or if i got a faulty board ? cus i ran the oc stable for a few days ! did some 3dmark runs and gamed alot..

anyone know what happened ? cus i wanna do some more overclocking as i get my TRUE cooler in the next 2 days <3

I'd like to ask a question. Do I need to rasie fsb termination voltage to overclock RAM? I am at 1200 with 2,1V and it dont wanna get over 1200 for anything I do, I adjusted vDIMM and NB voltage, as well as performance level, but in vain, the Hyper Pi 32M and memtest fails. And a nother interestin thing: if Iease on P level, there is a limit, which I cannot pass, at lower fsb and mem clock about 15-16, and at higher clocks 13-14, so the board dosent post at all over these...why is that?

Well, I'm an overacting idiot, of course. the 3.21ghz was stable... it was my CPU power saving ability where it lowers the multiplier and reduces the power consumption that made it look like it was all over the place... I never really stopped to watch it on CPU-Z before trying to OC today. Anyway, here's the results of what I managed to get so far on air:



I'm not going to try to push it any further until I get water on the system although I do kind of wonder what it will do with 466FSB... maybe I'll give that a go before calling it a day

Plz do not run 4ghz on the boxed cooler mate... set it one multi lower then... do you recall ya bios settings (NB, FSB term ?) For me a non boot was the result of too low FSB term voltage... but plz pm me the bios settings and we will have a look...

mine couldn't do anything at all without GTL's setting manually, or even i could boot bios and boot into Windows at around 400-430fsb or so with GTL_ref on auto but any system stress test will fail in no time. and that was the first board that i got from a friend, brand new board and could be a very first batch of boards in retail store. then it took me a while, i couldn’t make it happen for just a stock cpu speed and to be a stable system for an office use computer, took quite a time as well before i could get some GTL_ref value for each c2d and c2q cpus i tried at the time.
then later i have another board for myself, and it's same thing, but this timei already know. lol.

In the first screen i can also enable CE1,Virtualization and Disable Bit.
In the second it is all disabled only Disable Bit is Enabled.

I never Burned in a CPU.

I used My E6600 from Day 1 @3600Mhz, my E8400 @4000Mhz and now my E8600 @4200Mhz.

Maybe for Extreme Overclocking, but i am not sure.

What seems to be the max FSB on this board with a quad? The highest I have been able to boot is 507, increasing voltage and changing multi to 6.0 doesnt help. Is this generally the norm or should it be able to go higher?

over 500 is a quite qood result in every board from a 4 core CPU. It depends mostly on the processor( and the board as well ) what fsb you can reach, so you have a quite good chip I can tell ya man.
