Well, F5c was another bust, still same reboot/reset bug. Any OC over about 3.8 and you can boot up 1 time. All further reboots or any time you enter bios after that, the system hangs, blank screen. Back to F4m.
I'll never move from F4J lol. Performance is incredible, the pc has been 100% reliable and just a pleasure to work/bench and game on. Like a said many pages ago;they should keep their shyte beta bios program in-house and leave the community alone.
EDIT:
Hey I just noticed that there are pop-up tags on keywords. wtf is that all about?
I'm shoing it on the word g a m e
EDIT: now it's gone.
Alright I need a drink.

What voltages are you using for your overclock ReverendMaynard? Could you list the ones that are not set to Auto?? Thx
Do all of your guys boards restart multiple times at POST right after you save BIOS settings and reboot?? Mine does it usually like twice and the fan on my 4870x2 keeps firing up several times.

Would you guys mind if I asked a moderator to consolidate the thread title to include the DS4? Overclocking wise, I think they are all very closely related. They all share the same 12+2+2 power phase design, while all the boards below them do not. The only differing features seem to be SLI support, on-board sound, Firewire, and other features non-essential to overclocking.
For my part I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream.

So trying to tame the temperature beast - I will be adding water (single loop cpu only) to my ggbt extreme - 965 - sometime in the next week - pics follow.
Question - So since I am taking things apart - can I take off (leave off) all the cooling stuff on the north bridge?
I'm talking about the NB water block and the out the back slot like cooling fin thingy. Will this impact oc?
I tested and posted somewhere earlier in this thread my Extreme with the waterblock (not hooked up) and big ugly cooler out the back, on versus off. My IOH "NB" temps were 55-56C max load without the big ugly cooler and WB and 54C load with the big ugly cooler and WB (no water). So it makes ~1-2C difference. Idle was 47-48C either way. Even sticking a 120mm fan up against the big ugly cooler only decreased temps another 1C.
Taking it all off and putting a tricool spot fan hitting IOH...IOH temp now load 47-48C max. But whether 48C, 54C, 56C, overclocking it makes no difference whatsoever.
GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD3R opinions vs the extreme???
Just looking to replace current setup but cost must be reasonable and 200.00 for a mobo is high but lower than all the other X58 mobos

after reading all of the posts in this thread, I am not sure if I want to buy a motherboard yet. I bought my processor already, a 920, and plan on getting either the UD5 or Extreme. The Extreme seems to be really buggy and the fact that newegg and other manufacturers show it "out of stock" seem to help clue me in on that.
I plan on buying some G.Skill Pi Black 3X1GB DDR3 2000 RAM from newegg for 199, but am still hesitant on getting a Gigabyte X58-UD5. What do you guys think? I've never had problems with Gigabyte as I have had other motherboard manufacturers. Should I stick to Gigabyte or get something else?
All the X58 motherboards will have their quirks at this point in time. Comparatively, Gigabyte seems to have fewer than most.
For my part I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream.

A good portion of the bugs are unfortunately not caused by the board itself.
Yukon, you're going with the Intel board?
