Looking very solid for a gaming machine. Phenom II 920 + AMD700 + SB700/750 + HD4800 = excellent performance. For gaming, it seems to beat Core i7 in the bang-for-your-buck category. A viable alternative. I'm looking forward to their DDR3 numbers though--I would like to see how well AMD performs where it should be toe-to-toe with Intel.

What would you prefer? Phenom II 920 + 4GB DDR2 + AMD780V + SB700 + HD4850X2 or Core i7 920 + 6GB DDR3 + X58 + ICH10R + HD4850 1GB, if you had to pay for it.

SSD I think are the future small drives for now and expensive but should become more mainstream.

What speakers should I get for my desktop. I don't have a lot of space; thinking of 2 or 2.1, they will primary be used to listen to music and watch episodes of house, fringe, The Sheild a few other series and some pvr'd stuff off HBO, CBS and comedy central.

I have never had an issue with WD or Seagate and have used both for the last 7-8 years.

I lost count a long while ago, between working retail as a stocker (box cuters) working with miniatures as a hobbie (x-acto blades) and working with computers cases (dremels, fan blades, no sanded edges) and working in masonry (trowel edges and pinched finger tips) I am surprised I have digits left.

Yes, but I rarely play, because half of the DoDS player base camps and it gets kinda annoying to have some soldier wannabe kid going OMG PWNED when I get capped from some secluded corner in a room nobody cares about
