    I tried yesterday night the 1611 for p5q. Its a bit better, now it dosent throw an error immediatley runing blend test, just after 4 minutes. But its really something better with this issue, cause the ram needs a bit less voltage on the same clock, but the maximum oc stayed at the same level. Perhaps I shold mess around with the settings that I dont know. Im impatiently waiting the 15xx for P5Q!

    Some question occured in me: what do you exactly change and how you create these BIOS-es? Is there any change log? What kind of editor do you use, and how did you learned this? Is there any source on the web to aquire such knowlegde?

    P5Q-E never had a 15xx BIOS, went straight to 17xx.

    question about the mylogo app. I just pulled the dragon logo from a previous post by Ket and used mylogo to insert it into the m1703 bios file I have saved on my thumb drive. do I now have to reflash my bios? If so, since I am using the same bios but with a new logo, can I save an oc profile in the bios, flash with bios file saved with dragon logo and then just load settings from the oc profile?

    With afudos i have problem too, it says problemm with bootable device ,or file dameged- And i only have 256mb USB key and no floopy
    This should sort you out. You will need to download a small app to make your USB stick bootable.

    How this anomaly comes about I'm not sure, but one manufacturer especially are notorious for this anomaly occurring with, ASUS. To get yourself out of this bind follow these simple steps;

    1. Download the AFUDOS attachment (2.11, AFAIK this process will NOT work with newer versions)
    2. Make a bootable floppy \ CD \ USB \ whatever with the BIOS you want to flash to on
    3. Place the downloaded AFUDOS utility on to your chosen boot media
    4. Restart
    5. With (for the intentions of this example) your bootable floppy loaded and ready to go, type in the following then hit enter;

    AFUDOS.EXE /iXXXXXX.ROM /PBNC /N
    **XXXXXX denotes ROM filename**

    Thats it! The utility will now perform a comprehensive set of checks, erasing and writing procedures. Just sit back and watch it do its thing and restart your PC when prompted.

    Yep you can do that. The BIOS is the same its not like your flashing to different versions.

    well.... it didnt work. I ended up creating my own boot logo from my avatar pic (full size, not the actual resized one for the avatar) and used mylogo to insert it into the bios but after I flashed and cleared CMOS it still would not display. I guess I'll just have to live with the post screen and no logo. no big deal.

    Oh, the forum that I got banned from for mentioning that my Tpower I45 could use a new bios. Yeah, real rebels over there. I think it's owned by Biostar.

    Also, I just wanted to mention that Im having good luck with 1702m. Its taking less voltage for the same clocks on 1406. Ill do a bit more testing when I get my other 2x2gb kit back from an rma.

    I don't think Biostar own rebels haven, and I've never known Polygon or anyone else to ban someone from there. Maybe a mod was editing your post for something and hit the wrong button without realising it?

    Here is a set of "new" mBIOSes. They sacrafice a little in way of CPU compatibility (not as many microcodes) but memory compatibility theoretically is through the roof. V1 versions in this pack use a memory table from a early BIOS version of the Maximus 2 Formula, where the other vesrion in the pack uses the memory table from the latest M2F BIOS, 1802.

    In summary;

    - Replaced memory table with M2F mem table
    - Replaced CPU table with M2F CPU table

    You will probably notice various other changes when experimenting - this is all down to the above mentioned changes. Naturally, feedback is essential.
