Got some strange thing here... When I boot up my PC for the very first time after turning it on, it reboots like 2 seconds after, then runs fine... After that if I turn it on or off or reboot, it boots up and works fine, also passes Memtest and Intel Burn Test easily. But if I turn it off for a while (so my PSU turns off entirely and stops making any noises), then boot it up again, I get the same auto reboot. What could be the issue? Not like it's making any problems, just a bit odd and annoying.
And also, any idea where I can look up DRAM 2nd and 3rd information BIOS values for Corsair DDR2 modules? Seems like my board changes them time to time (3rd info +-1 for most values) as they are set as Auto atm.
Edit: overclocked my E6400 to 3.6GHz @ 1.4v, seems to be running fine.Memory 900Mhz (that's 100 more than stock) 5-4-4-12 @ 2.16v, pity I couldn't push CL4.
System is very stable, just wish I could get rid of this additional reboot crap...
And using m1611 ofc.![]()

Finally got mbios 1703 flashed successfully on my p5q-e (thanks Ket!). Loaded bios setup defaults and then rebooted into ezflash. Soon as the flash was done I booted back into the bios and once more loaded the setup defaults, then powered off and with the power cable removed, cleared the cmos. New bios works perfectly now. Got my new memory so still working on fine tuning everything but the bios is definitely rock solid.

I would also think its a sign of a dying PSU. You may also want to take everything out to make sure nothing is causing a short and all connections and jumpers are fitted ok and none are loose. Even if they all seem ok its worth giving them a wiggle in case of any dry connections![]()

Hi Ket!
I've got some problems with OC-ing RAM in P5Q. I've tried a lot of BIOS-es, a lot of setting, and its all the same with 2 different kind of kit( CSX C4 800 and Crucial ballistix 1066 C5 ). It is quite simple get a good OC till I dont bump up much the vdimm. The CSX kit goes with 1,94V 4-4-4-12 @900 but needs 2,1V for @950, and 2,16V for @970 with thistiming, and for @1000 it isnt stable with any voltage. If i set it to 2,2V or over it, it isnt stable at all, not on the same speed it is stable with lower voltage...It is the same with the crucial kit. Btw it runs at very pretty speed with 1,9V i.e @1111, but It dont even POST-s az @1200 at any voltage. I dont have any idea, what may cause these things, I formly had a P5K-E, and in that mobo it was very easy to get a stable OC over 2,2V vdimm. It has less options in the BIOS, and thus it's better for get a stable setting. There are may options in P5Q BIOS which could be explained for me, I think you should know them all very well, if you modify these BIOS-es. I mean not the overall options, which everyone knows, like vdimm, or memory timings, rahter those what are not wide known, like Mem OC charger, transaction booster/ pull in phases, dram read training, an so on... I'd thank you to post a link or something, whrere I can read of these options explained. And there is another question: are these modded BIOS-es safe? I really dont wanna flash my mobo to the heavens, but if it could solve the ram OCing problem, I'd try one of them, but I dont know which version would be the best for it.
All the more obscure options such as pull-ins and mem oc charger etc have been talked about in this thread... somewhere. As for specific issues, no system is the same and the OC you can get can greatly vary. As you will read ikn this thread (and even on this page) the mBIOSes are rock solid and a lot of people have much better results with these than the vanilla BIOS, so its worth giving one a go. always start with the latest mBIOS and work your way back from there if you need to.

There will be a new set of 15xx mBIOSes available soon guys. Why 15xx versions? I noticed for the P5Q and the Pro (havent looked at other versions yet) theoretically they have the most potential for memory compatibility and OCing![]()

Using 1613m above 400FSB I am stuck using only the 333 strap. Otherwise it seems to work well. My memory doesn't like playing at 540Mhz so far. So I can't use all of my E8600 potential.
Had a discussion about this issue, which I also have,at ocforums.
The other guy tried with upping vcore to 1.35 which solved the problem.
This I haven't tried myself yet (lazy) but it just might be that cpu is not getting enough juice, even if its 50X intelburntest stable (like mine).
Worth trying.
Edit: Mine is OC'd: 3600MHz 1,25V, 333strap 4-4-4-10 @800MHz, most other voltages 1 step above orig.

with mbios 1703 on my p5q-e i got up to 475mhz fsb last night. mem strap is at 333 using a mem divider of 5:6. my g.skill pi's are running flawlessly at 1141mhz with only 1.94v (5-5-5-15 2T). its been running prime95 blend test for about 14 hours without any issues.
some basic bios information for current oc:

this bios is more than great. 1406 had me stuck at around 460fsb but now i can hit 475 without a sweat. if prime is still running when i get home from work im gonna see how much higher i can go.
EDIT: dropped my cpu multi to 9 from 9.5 so its running at 4.275ghz on 475fsb

...and afor me for creating such monster BIOSes
I'll be doing the revised 15xx BIOSes a little later today
so anyone with memory compatibility problems still should deffinately try the revised 15xx versions. Hell, I'll say their worth a go over the 16\17xx versions as well.

Ket.... was there ever a 15xx bios for the p5q-e? I remember waiting for a while after the 1406 and then the next one that appeared was 1703.

I tried yesterday night the 1611 for p5q. Its a bit better, now it dosent throw an error immediatley runing blend test, just after 4 minutes. But its really something better with this issue, cause the ram needs a bit less voltage on the same clock, but the maximum oc stayed at the same level. Perhaps I shold mess around with the settings that I dont know. Im impatiently waiting the 15xx for P5Q!
Some question occured in me: what do you exactly change and how you create these BIOS-es? Is there any change log? What kind of editor do you use, and how did you learned this? Is there any source on the web to aquire such knowlegde?
