Well it was kind of assumed that it would support ddr3...He never claimed it would work with DDR 3 he just claimed it was forward compatible with AM3 motherboards which was conflicting with current roadmaps.
It may or may not be compatible with ddr3, still don't have that info but this is good news for people who plan on buying am2+, they can still upgrade to one variant of AM3 and possibly newer chipsets ( speculative on newer chipsets of course ) etc they are not stuck completely with the current board offerings for the phenom II.
