Incredible overclock. A full list of voltages would be great! I'm very, very impressed.

Damn... thats crazy. Nice work man.

you said thanks Napalm. did you get that Q9650 from him? was it one of Napalms?

Nice work Sir. I want a new Motherboard now. but I have no clue what to get... Anyways I've been busy with x-mas, and I got an alarm added to my Truck. (Since it was broken into and ALL of my stuff stolen) not sure if I mentioned that or not. they got cd player, sub, amp, 80GB ipod, Bluetooth headset, my coffee mug. all the goods. BASTARDS!

Anyways I installed a nice 1 mile distance 2 way alarm in my truck and put push pins on all 4 doors, and the hood so if any are open it will sound. and a few other cool things.

I'm not in process of getting a new system and stereo installed. So as soon as I'm done by the end of this week or so I'm planning. I'll make sure I take this Quad as high as I can. I'm almost done with stereo, When I am I'll OC all i can.

    Nice work there Jor

Someone has mentioned this in a post before and I guess my eyes are blurring from reading because I can't seem to find the post now. What is the max 24/7 voltage that would be recommened on the vcore for the Q9650? I am wanting to get the best oc that I can get that is capable of running 24/7. Right now I am at 4050MHz with the voltage in the bios at 1.3 and the reading at 1.28.

if you want a ballpark for an average 24/7 max Vcore, I would say its about 1.45v, but it can go much higher or a bit lower depending on the cooling you have.

Yep a ballpark figure is what I am looking for. I know it isn't exact but some guidelines are good to have.

i have finally got around to turning up the volts on one of my psu's, its an ocz 600sxs, the 12 volts were at 11.89 i opened it up and found a screw to turn (or whatever its called) got the volts upto 12.55 now, just a note to everybody make sure the power core is out and the pc it turned off before putting the cover back on the psu, thats the 4th time i've been electricuted in my life, im too shakey to do anymore tonight..herhehe miught try overclocking 2morrow, i really want to bring the volts up on my corsair hx1000, i'll have to see if it can be done easy, i know that the thermaltake 750 dosnt have a screw.

thats not my q9650.. i think jors the same batch/vid.. actually a bunch of us have the same batch/vid.. leet q9650 brotherhood lol

    - like i have said before.. my q9650 aint no golden q9650

    - higher v12 can only do so much.. if the chipset/mobo is stubborn no v12 will save it

    - please handle psus with care/common sense.. its best not to open up and mess around if not familiar with dangers glued to psus

    - x48 has no savior just like its older bro x38: worst chipsets ever made by intel.. then again intel do a many things intentionally..

even p35 walks all over x38/x48

    - p45+q9650 is the right path.. and frankly the best p45 are the ep45s

All of what you said above is very true napalm, but I want to know if you have done any "stability" clocking of your q9650. my experience with many manufacturers (gigabyte and asus in particular) is that they claim the frequency crown but their stability is truly terrible. DFI has never failed me in this area though...

    sounds good Elano

I just ask because all of my 3d bench clocks on the T3RS have been fully OCCT stable (up to 4.36 so far) and I have never seen many High frequency primes or OCCT's on this thread

So question for everyone. I know you guys aren't fans on eVGA Motherboards.. more so the 7 series. but I have a chance tonight to get the eVGA, or XFX 790i SLI, not the FTW, or the ULTRA.. but the 790i SLI for $99.00 and then it has a mail in rebate. so it will end up being like $50 dollars or so, but for now that's $99 dollars for a 790i. thats pretty damn sweet.

So how much better would the 790i SLI be over my current 750i FTW. other than the TRI-SLI that I don't care for. what would I benifit. I'd have to get DDR3 Ram. would it overclock my Q9650 farther than my 750i can? although I've not even found it's limit yet on this board. I still need to do that also. lol.

Just thought I'd ask everyone's opinion there. as thats a GREAT deal for that board. it's still a good board isn't it.

I HAVE read all posts and I can tell you LOVE Nvidia.

I was the same (still am for GPU's) but for a long time now Nvidia are crap for Mobo Chipsets because they sat on their hands after very good NF2/3/4, NF5 was just ok and NF6 was a total POS and 780 is a total POS and the 790 is again just ok.

You do not need DDR3 bandwidth for a C2D CPU, total waste of time and money.

You need to put that POS of a Mobo in the bin and get a Intel P45 IMO (I have had the 680 and 780 POS's).

You have all very good parts apart from you Mobo, its a total waste and shame to fit a 45nm Quad to it, infact they do not even run that well on 780 and ain't supported on 680.

I do not understand why you defend it so much, its a POS and I at least can say I have owned both 6000 and 7(8)00 POS's.

If you got a P45 you would in about 1 weeks time after you get used to the multiple different Bios settings NEVER LOOK BACK and wonder how you can hit 500+FSB (2000QP, yes even on a 45nm Quad) with hardly any voltage increase to various Mobo Components.

TRI SLI is also stupid and a waste of time and money, you can for now game better on 1 faster GPU as SLI/Crossfire is not supported in all games, 2009 will still be about 1 very fast GPU (soon to be released).

I guess it depends on whether or not you get a good board. I had a 680i mobo and it was fantastic with my Q6600. Right I just got my Q9650 up 4.1GHz(9x456) with cpuz and everest showing the vcore at 1.296. The temps are great. Priming all 4 cores the temps don't go above 53C. I am hoping to try to reach at least 4.3GHz for 24/7 operation.

680I apart from EVGA (who gave out free upgrades to newer REV) do not even fully support 65nm Quads and none support 45nm Quads AFAIK (Asus do not).

If your going to buy a ££££/$$$$$ Quad CPU FFS get a decent P45/X48 Mobo not a 680/780 POS.

I have heard that the P45 mobo's are great for the quads. I currently have this asus x48 and have been pleased. I like this board better than the nvidia boards except for the raid controller. I got faster throughput with the nforce raid controller. As far as this cpu, I would recommend a P45 or an asus x48 mobo. The only x38 I had was a dfi board and I had really bad luck with it.
