I tried and still cannot get 4 slots to boot. I am extremely disappointed in this board. I really hope its me not the board but i highly doubt it now. I am trying to run 4x1 gigs of Crucial Ballistix 8500 and it wont. I have 4x2gb of g skill 8500 running and now i read that this is a common problem and it wont work. If this is the case i will never buy a gigabyte again. This is my 3rd board each one had major problems. Anyways anyone have any fixes or anything?

There's no reason why you shouldn't be able to boot stock settings with 4x1GB's of Crucial Ballistix 8500's, if you can't and you are sure your RAM is not faulty then your board is the culprit.
Check your RAM voltages with Crucial, more recent sticks uses less volts.
I use 4x1GB's here which have a default voltage of 2.2

    Thanks, Iīll try that.

It seems like this P45 chipset are a bit picky when it comes to push MHz and low tRD. Probably I have to settle for higher tRD if I want high MHz, I donīt like that idea.

Right now I can boot okey with 61,5% MCH ref, CPU Term 1,32 and DRAM volt 2,30 at 450 4050 1200 555 15 tRD7 but when I run Orthos blend it crash within 20min, it donīt give me error it just crash.

I have been running Prime95 25.8 blend for 45min now without problem and itīs still running, weird, anyone know whatīs the diffrent between those two.

I just what this setup to be stable so I can go to the next step, 500 8 4000 1200 555 15

    Ghostleader,

    this's a BIOS setting i used to use for an e8400 450FSB DDR2-1200 tRD7 2x1GB RAM...

if you cannot stable your system with the setting, then try adding more MCH voltage to 1.26-1.30v, and drop the MCH ref. value down from 0.76v to 0.74v, and then try 0.72v and 0.70v. this setting should be working okay for your 450 FSB, CPU at 4.05GHz and running DDR1200.

the memory timing (in the above pic) is standard timing for the HyperX PC2-9600 running at DDR1200,
you can try the timing setting in BIOS, but also set Turbo.
if you want to tighten memory timing then do that once you can get a stable overclock, and then try retesting your system again.

for 500 FSB and up on C2D 45nm, try MCH ref. value of 0.64v-0.70v (of VTT 1.20v),
it's almost like... the higher fsb the lower MCH ref., for booting 600 FSB, i use VTT 1.40-1.46, MCH 1.40v and MCH ref. value of 0.65v.

note-- in order to use the ET6's voltage setting value in your BIOS, for example, if you want to try my voltage setting (above),
the easy way is to first set VTT to 1.20v, Vdimm 1.80v,
and then set the other voltage and ref. settings using the value shown in the ET6 and go back to VTT and Vdimm and change the 2 values last.

    i hope this helps.

500x8.5 should be easy on that Q9550 with this board.
I upped the vtt to 1.48V, I can now take it to 490fsb*8.5 before it freezes on me.

I realise this is a controversial topic but what is recognised as safe 24/7 vtt these days on a q9550? also while I'm at it is 100c correct tjmax?
    Thanks for your help.

Any changes done in Advanced Clock Control, CPU Clock Drive, PCI Express Clock Drive, CPU Clock Skew, MCH Clock Skew?

The Prime95 session that I started when I posted post 830 ran for 10hrs then I stoped it and started LinX 50 loop but it error after loop 14.

Iīll now test your setup suggestion.

I've been running 4 x 2GB G.Skill Pi Blacks @ 900 4-4-4-12 w/ 2.04v for about two weeks now without issue. Not a massive overclock, but I'm quite pleased with it for 24/7 use.

This thread has really grabbed my attention. Gigabyte seems to have a real winner with the UD3P. At a decent price too. Makes me want to play!

Nothing wrong with the setup you see in my sig, rock stable. But I would like to ride the LGA 775 platform for another year. Just looking to get the most out of my cpu and memory, and have some fun doing it.

My Q6700 (1.275 vid) @ 1.325 vcore in bios is prime stable at 3.4. With a vdrop to 1.29 on load per everest on my BadAxe2. then comes the 975X quad brick wall of course.

    I just have 2 questions:

Am I unreasonable to expect 3.7 to 3.8 OC out of my 1.275 vid Q6700 on the UD3P? Will be running it on a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme

And if I buy this board I hope I have better luck with my 4x1 gigs of Crucial Ballistix 8500's than mykemyk2010 of this thread has had. Hence the 2nd question:

I'm running the older double sided Ballistix 8500's, D9GMH modules. 16FD3 batch. Anybody running these or any other D9GMH modules in 4x1gb configuration?

Coming from the simplistic OC on a BadAxe2 to a p45 board is a big jump for me, but with the wealth of info flowing into these threads takes the worry away.

    Thanks a bunch!

3.7/3.8 should be realistic for you. 3.4 stable at that voltage is good. You should have enough to meet your goal. These boards are amazing.

Sorry your having issues. Is this your 3rd UD3 board? If no, dont give up just yet on gigabyte. Go ahead and RMA yours b/c of your 4x2 gb issue. I had one of these boards take a dump and fried my RAM with it. It's still such a good board that i didn't consider anything different for replacement. Good Luck

just test running 4x2GB ram on my board again, and i just find it interesting that i can run my e8400 at 4.2GHz and also overclocking the 8GB ram to DDR2-1120MHz with only 1.20v P45's MCH voltage. i always thought this overclock was supposed to use more MCH voltage than this.

i haven't run any other stress test program, but a dual Superpi 32M, and then shutdown for a while and restart ( no overclock failure message) and ran another dual Superpi 8M.

anyway, here are some pics of my bios setting and the rest...

i'll also show you my system that based on the UD3R,
i haven't decided what i want to do with it, so it's still a mess right now.

pangingIII.thanks for this info, your the man.really really appreciate all the help you provide othersand myself. that is amazing that it can run 467fsb with 8gigs of ram with only 1.20MCH. makes me wonder if weve all been unessasarilly using more vMCH than needed?

Has anyone noticed a temperature difference with different BIOS? Reason I asked is because with my Q9550, it runs about 15c hotter underload on this board then it did with my TPower. I have all the same voltages and everything, but the temps are still always hotter. I've even cleaned off the TIM and tried a new layer but it made no difference. I'm using BIOS F4. On my TPower it would run about 55c @ 4GHz with a TRUE. On this board however, it runs 66-70c under full load with the same voltage and everything Could it be the fact that on the TPower I used .63x GTL Ref and here I'm using .76x GTL Ref?

Edit: Just lowered my voltage to 1.2v from 1.25v and temp wise it didn't make any difference. I was running the same clock speeds too

    I just hit 4.0GHz on my Q6600

I was going to run more benchmarks and tweak ram. But then I saw my Vcore. I enabled load line calibration and instead of decreasing volts from BIOS to Windows it increased them. I couldn't get 4.1GHz to boot Windows, not sure what settings were wrong, but figure it out later.

Edit: Dam I just remembered I could have lowered it using easy tune .
