btw has anyone gotten the onboard esata to work? i have been using a sata to esata cable but it only works on my esata on the front IO of my case not on the rear IO on the mainbaord tho.
woooooooo finally got some decent ram so i won't be stock with these dominators. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227298 been waiting for a good price on these and 35 after a rebate is pretty good for 4gb of 1066. now maybe i can mess around with my timings to check out that ganged/unganged thing gotvoltage was saying.
Here's the post about not supporting four modules @ 1066:

yea i have already seen that asus link but the fact is many claim that they can do it but im not so sure about this since asus and amd and others claim its not possible. what do you guys think? im still taking the stand that its not possible. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...B3.2C_65_nm.29
it says you have that but that version is not a black edition and was released just in october.
I got this CPU back in July 08. I'm just looking at the receipt now...

its with running 4 sticks of 1066. its not possible but many people say it is. there really isn't a way to prove that it is possible and there isn't a way to prove that it isn't possible. all that i know is that the specs make sense why it can only run 2 sticks at 1066 and that amd and mainboard manufacturers like asus say its not possible.
lol thats very odd since that chip doesn't exist. but if the store was listing it as that then who knows idk im confused. really all we know is that you have a godly chip and there are no records of amd producing a chip like that. lol unless the chip was originally thought to be 95W and then it got changed sometime before it got released and the store never changed it and the part number stayed the same.
So if only 2 stciks @ 1066 it reads what happens to the other 2 sticks what does it read then, does it downgrade them to 800? cpuz read 1066 hmmmm..... I think I need another beer

don't really understand what you are saying and i have no clue how this whole 1066 thing works. and im not the best one to test anything since my dominators suck. i can't wait till the new ram arrives so i can stop getting errors on things, i can't actually run them at stock settings and have the ability to overclock, and so cpuz can actually read them correctly along with AOD. ill ask about the 1066 thing sometime but i won't be able to ask about it for about a week.

someone should run some benchies with 4 sticks @ 800mhz 5.5.5.15 then @ 1066mhz 5.5.5.15 and then if possible MAXmhz 5.5.5.15 so we can see what kind of differences it makes... and if there is improvements @ 1066 you could try with just 2 sticks at all the settings to see if its better than 800mhz but still being limited somehow

how does everyone control their cpu fan with this board? i like to use my kaze master for the video card and all the case fans but for the cpu fan i use speedfan because i like the automatic control when the temps go up. only problem with this is that this mobo is so screwy that i have to run ai suite on startup and then click on the fan and then exit the program. unless i do that speedfan will not work. seems odd but yes thats how it works. does anyone know a way where i can control the fan speed using software without having to use ai suite? and another thing that bugs me is that i can't overclock or use cool and quiet because then ai suite won't open. my cpu cooler is a 3 pin cooler. any suggestions?
edit: so alright get this. i have been running a 4870 and a phenom 9600 for a long. time yes a phenom 9600 not even a black edition. i have suspected that this is a major bottleneck and so i finnally tried some testing. i ran 3d mark with stock gpu and cpu settings and got 11745. then i overclocked the gpu from 750 mhz to 790 mhz and got 11818. not much more but still within the margin of error. then i overclocked the vram as well from 900mhz to 1000mhz. being a 400 mhz effective clock. so i now have 790 core and 1000 ram as compared to stock 750 core and 900 ram. i ran it again and guess what i got? 11745 what i got on stock settings. i know for a fact that my gpu is overclocked during the tests based on what the gpuz log says but its just insane. so once i get my phenom II the change is going to be extreme. i also ran some far cry 2 tests with maxed settings xcept x4 AA instead of x8 at 1680x1050. got an average of 1.5 fps more with the clocks.

nice im dling it now. anyone know anything about this fan stuff tho? i want to get to the bottom of it.
When I had my Zalman 9700 on my board I had a fan controller that came with it, I just used that...... maybe if you got a 3 to 4 pin connector for the cpu fan,, dont think it will work with just a 3 pin
Note: when using a 3-pin power connector with a 4-pin fan header, the fan will always be on; there is no fan control.

yea i have the zalman 9500 but i like to control it through speedfan so the temps can always be in check. just like i said earlier speedfan is just a pain to get it to work because of this mobo and ai suite, etc. i would just get another kaze master to control it but id prefer to use speedfan still if i can find some way to get it to work without using ai suite.

he matches the part number of the 9850 that came out in october. and thats not a BE either.
i have a 4pin fan and i use the option in the bios under hardware monitor,
there r three options: performance, optimal and i think silent. the fan speed varies with the temp/cycle load of the cpu. im not sure about controlling the cpu fan using software, never tried it with speedfan. i have a scythe fan controller that i could use but ive been having good luck with the smart fan option in the bios.
my corsair dominators dont overclock well past ddr2 1100, suppose some OCZ reapers are in my future :-)
im using the fan that came with the mobo to cool the mosfet heatsinks now, i have a temp probe showing the NB and SB at 50C, damn i ned a fan to cool it down some.
