Guys IBT is way too stressfull..... degradation can happen...
well he ran 1.5v on a penryn
we know degradation happens with 45nm at high voltages over long periods of time
just looks like he accelerated that process =_=

Well i tested my Q6600, temps went up to 78 deg, 3 tests, u think it could degrade?

not unless its at 1.7vcore and you do a 24 burn test

It'll be fine since it'll only be a short amount of time .

I just tested my Core i7 920 @ about 3.150Ghz, stock cooler. CPU never went over 80C in CoreTemp.

I only did one pass though. Wasn't sure how long it was going to take. And it is pretty fast, like others said.

Ive tried running IBT numerous times and continue to get the error mentioned by some before... I have tried installing it several times in different folders (keeping everything together) running as admin, etc. Can't seem to get it to work correctly on the #1 option (max stress test)

Its the same error screen shot posted a page or 2 back, im not sure why I cant get it to work right.

Oh this is in 32 bit mode btw.

I'm guessing it's Vista 32-bit related. Try running it with Error-detection off, and posting a screen-shot of that so I can get a better idea of what you're talking about.

Its weird that now to OC i HAVE TO DISABLE THERMAL FEATURES in BIOS, this was not the case until i ran IBT. U guys think my mobo degraded?
It runs fine at 3.6 Ghz (450X8) with thermal funtions (EIST etc) disabled. 30 mins OCCT stable and i dont give a damn to IBT now

You can almost forget about linpack and i7 in 32bit mode. Prime will be the better tester here..
In win x64 and with 6-12GB ram it's a usable memory tester now, however the 50% issue is prohibiting it from working better than prime for now.
For example, I ran 53h prime and 10h IBT on one of my 920 customer systems with 12Gb ram, OCed to 3,6Ghz at 1,2V, watercooled.
After 53h of prime, I got roughly 60C on all cores. Using 11,5GB ram with IBT it never got over 53C. Also performance sucked, a good 40Gflops which is about half of what it should be.

    With error detection off.

    With error detection on.

Doesnt seen to want to do either, I guess it must be a vista 32 bit problem?

Max mem size it wants to test with Vista 32 for me is 1600MB (1700 and above same error). This is on 4Gb ram systems. On XP 32 linpack auto-scales down to 2GB fine.

So is this good to use on my QX9650 with WinXp32bit?

Also will it detect all my ram or do i have to set that manually? 4GB btw

I've used IntelBurn with different CPU speeds and am stable with it but when I go use Prime95 I fail. I set to 5 runs. What gives and which should I believe?

Both -- if either says it's "unstable", it is. LinPak tests primarily the CPU. Prime95 tests both (CPU, memory & NB) -- especially in blend. Prime95 also tests transitions when it goes from large to small FFTs (and vice versa) -- so it's a more robust test. I use LinPak for a quick test of stability because it will generally fail much more quickly than prime if there's a CPU problem -- I just run 15 cycles. Then I run prime95 for 8-12 hours (or more). If that passes, I run the 3D-Marks to check graphics. OCCT is another good tool in it's mix mode. I don't use it as much because you don't get as much info from it as from Prime95 and it's not as repeatable as prime95 so you can't always tell if you're changing things in the right direction based on how long it runs. YMMV.

    yeh i had that. i have vista64.
i deleted ibt folder ,and installed directly to c drive . for some reason if i install to c/program files it doesnt work. try saving it to c drive only.

on another note, i passed 5 runs . was happy. then u gys told me i need atleast 10 runs. so i did that and failed . was emo about it for a few days ,then again i started playing with gtls . now ive hit the spot.
i finally got 10 runs stable just by bumping gtls +5
and dont u dare say i need 15 runs !! lol

    Well I'm running this IntelBurnTest thing on my i7 920 @ 4Ghz HT On .. and it finished in 283.033 seconds .. (1 test) .. 1443.602 secs (5 test)

Temps maxed out at low 80's during the test.. vs. high-80's for Prime95 .. I'd say this thing aint as harsh as Prime95

Please do bother to read the last 2 pages
IBT doesn't use 8 threads yet, hence it's not optimal for i7 testing yet.

I passed prime95 small fft for 24hours and then I did IBT for 200 runs max settings and got 2 errors. Going to up my nb voltage to see if that stabilizes the system.
