These clock speeds/voltages are because of the quality of the chip, not my skills as an overclocker lol:

For 4GHz I have the FSB at 1684MHz and 9.5 multi

CPU voltage in bios 1.27, 1.24v under load (I thought it said 1.25, but that was idle lol)
    FSB voltage 1.3v
    NB chipset 1.25v
    Everything else auto

    And there you have it!

So far the best I can get is 4400MHz at 1.368v (1.4v BIOS), which seems pretty happy so far. I'd rather less vcore though, so I may take it down to 4300MHz.

Ah good point. At 4.4GHz 1.36v my sustained load temps are 44/42C so now I see where the E0 stepping comes in.

    Great Overclocks Guys.........

Really makes me feel great knowing I blew 300 bucks on an E8600 and it can't keep up with those! It turned out to be a real rag.
    The temperature sensors work!

Some E0 E8400s are doing 4.5GHz stable, but if you want really low vcore you should get 4GHz with 1.2-1.25v no bother. I think my E0 can do 4GHz on less than stock volts, but I haven't primed it yet at 1.23vcore.

I'm still fiddling with my settings - been thinking about lower CPU vcore and higher memory bandwidth so I'm going for 4.1GHz, currently happy at 1.248 under load. The temps aren't even reaching 40C, it's crazy.

With the FSB at 432.5MHz I can run my memory at 1:1 using the EPP timings 4-4-3-15 2T but it's taking 2.17v to get it stable, however the memory bandwidth is very nice

I tried it with vdimm at 2.15v but got an error, however increasing the vcore by one notch seems to have solved the problem - CPU now at 1.256v under load and memory happy at 2.15v 865MHz 4-4-3-15. I'm pretty happy with this.

    Lenny,

Did you mod any of the other voltsages? What do you have your RAM at? I tell you, I have been so frustrated with this 680i and my E8500.

You have a great board and chip.

Yeah I have adjusted pretty much everything in BIOS to get this stable - here are my BIOS settings for ya:

CPU: 1.3000 ("current" says 1.26v, big vdrop)
    FSB: 1.4v
    Mem: 2.150v
    SPP: 1.4v
    MCP: 1.525v
    HT: 1.25v

    And clock settings:

    FSB - Mem: Linked
    FSB - Mem: Sync Mode
    FSB freq: 1730MHz
    Mem freq: 865MHz

And yeah my chip is very good, but to be honest I'm very surprised by this board; I didn't expect the OC to be such an easy one. At the moment I have do decide which is more important - mem bandwidth or CPU speed; if I crank the CPU any higher, I lose my tight timings with the memory linked to the FSB. I don't want to run it unlinked.

What settings are you using for your OC? There can be many things holding it back; I thought it was undervolted memory when in fact it was the vcore that was too low, so sometimes it can be a surprise.

Watch out for that fsb voltage, if you'll keep it like that I'm not sure you'll have it in 2009.
