hmm I was playing recently with GTL witch made me stable 10pases of Linpack and around 1h of Blend on 3.97ghz and I stopped because it was late but it looked like 4ghz is just there after another 5mins of tweaking.

Yesterday with same same settings I was not stable at 3.97 :O hmm crashing after 2-3mins of blend .

Anybody had issues like this? One day stable other not? All temps were in acceptable range around 50 for NB and SB and 47 for Power so I would not say they are the factor here - but I might be mistaken.

If in your case dear reader you never had situation like this on MF2 (one day stable other not) then also pls write as it is same importance info to me as if some one had same funny acting from Mobo.

    Any input is welcome.

Have experienced this issue, and found out after alot of testing that the CPU just is on the border of what it can take. My Q9550 was seemingly stable at 3.83ghz at 1,375v even 10runs of Linpack64 with 8gb ram, next reboot and it would not even be stable in ventrilo or general low power usage.
Backing it down to 3.7ghz fixed it permanently, and adding volt to the CPU@3.83ghz did not fix it, neither did adding NB/FSB volts to the m/b. My M2F seems to show the same instability on all quads at or around 450fsb, so I have given up on high FSB for 24/7 usage..

If adding volt to the CPU still produces instability, you could be seeing the end of the line for this chip, and if it's the FSB that causes the problems there is still possible tweaking left, but it might be a loong road ahead. I would suggest that you back off 100mhz or so, since trying to get it stable above the FSB/Mhz wall you are hitting might not be worth the hassle... Mine seemed better on 1:1 setting, but not not quite perfect there either....

I got hold of a very good QX9650@Q9550 price, and are now easily doing 4.0ghz 24/7 with 1.320v load with silent aircooling, I might go for more speed later if I can get hold of a "Ultra Kaze" at 1000-3000rpm, since this chip can reach 4.5-4.6ghz on air (allthough hotter then hell @ these clocks).
4.2ghz is the 24/7 target, as it needs around 1.40v for linpack stability, but for now 4.0ghz at very nice temps and silence, will do me just fine...

Thanks for info. I bumped volts and it is stable again at 3.97ghz. Degradation or lucky 10 linpacks and 1h Prime Blend on lower voltage day before?

Anyway can't get it stable at 4ghz so far. Will test today 1802 bios maybe it will change something.

Also what voltage is considered safe for 24/7 q9550 in stress on Air? I read something about 1.365 which I am currently on
