P5Q is indeed the non pro. Don't download any 1611mBIOS yet though, I noticed a small thing I'm fixing now so redoing V1 and V2.

No point in that at all. I just changed the logo for something half worthwhile looking at instead of the POST screen.

Mr Ket, do you think your bios will allow me to clock my Q6600 from 3.6 > 4.0GHz, if its memoryproblems i have =) And, does the bioses for P5Q Pro allow non-1:1 on the memory?

As in, I want to runt 445x4 FSB and keep memory at 800MHz

Its rare any quads hit 4GHz without VERY good cooling and highish volts, there are no extra dividers in these mBIOSes, I simply improve whats already there. Most people report being able to get a better OC with these mBIOSes, so you may be able to squeeze a bit more out of your quad, its all subjective.

Well the cooling isnt the issue, I think its when I go over 800MHz for the memory, I need to go atleast 890 or something for the 4GHz
Do you think your bios might improve or reduce memory-related issues that might be occuring when going +800?

Sounds like the issue may be a BIOS setting and not the BIOS itself. Whats the default speed for your memory and what manufacturer\model is it?

    Thats my first thought, its Corsair XMS2 PC6400 2GB x 4
Not really superclockables, but I read that people make em tick faster all the times. So feel welcome to suggest some suitable settings to make em tick in around 900MHz =)

Well, your populating all 4 DIMM slots, thats going to stunt your OC growth right there. Set everything to stock and use the lowest multi you can, set memory timings manually to 5-5-5-15-45, TRFC 7 or 8, TRRD,TWR,TWTR,TRTP to 4. Performance level, try 8, if that doesnt work out try 10. Raise NB and SB voltage to around 1.3v, set your RAM voltage to 2.1-2.2v, and see how far you can take those Corsair sticks.

    - Pull-ins
    - Couple other things I can't remember off the top of my head

Before anyone asks, heres the deal with v1 and v2 BIOSes, NOTHING apart from the memory table is different. V1 uses the Premium memory table (54100) whereas V2 uses the Pro memory table (58420). I have no idea why the memory table is larger in the P5Q\Pro\Deluxe BIOS code, I would guess at A: Asus have not yet updated the code for the Premium in the beta BIOS, or B: Asus have removed "junk" code from the Premium memory table, which one would think would lead to better OCs.
oh thats would be great i'll wait it

    hello p5q owner.

i ve switched these days from nforce to pq5-e.
but i several issues to get it stable or run with standard settings :-/
with nforce my FSB was stable on 475. so the hw itself should work with standard or 400.

so my last hope is 2 try out one of the modded bios versions here.

    cpu = e6850
    mb = p5q-e
    RAM 1= 4x1GB geil 6400 cl4 2.1v
    or
    RAM 2= 4x 1GB OCZ 8500 cl5 2.1-2.3

before i risk for nothing my warranty .. i have to say my combination wont run fine in any way. auto settings (with auto OC) cause application crashes.
but when i start define values wont boot correctly or vista spy out BS.
i ve already tried out a lot of suggest values in a german p5q thread.
    nothing works.

should i try .. or should it be better to return the board cuz you think its damaged in any way ?

    thx for suggestions ..

Update: 1611 has gone official now, so I'll use the final code for the mBIOSes. Still no update since 1406 for the P5Q-E. HOPEFULLY I can get the new mBIOSes up later today.

    Hi ket,

Tried to search this thread if GTLvRef bios option will appear/work if I use your modded BIOS on my P5Q vanilla, but my search terms is a bit rusty,
I'm having problems with CPU 1 on my E7200 on anything above 400FSB and I think GTVref tweaking will solve it, would really love to get it to 3800MHz.
    Thanks in Advance

    hi Ket, excellent job
I don't know if it's been talk about the following issue, I've wrote many times to asus.com but nothing never happened:
on P5Q I could never obtain a unique IRQ for my fancy audio card [ASIO driver works better/cleaner when is on a unique IRQ, not shared with, for example, video card, or network]
I have moved the card around all PCI slots, but the IRQ is always 'shared' [in fact, that's why I've preferred P5Q, because it has 3 PCI, and I've thought that at least one will have a unique irq]
[I think is useless to mention how frustrating is spending those money on expensive hardware and not being able to use it on its normal parameter]
    thank you

    Hey.
Got my P5Q board a few days ago and so far I'm really happy with it. But, got quite a few questions regarding BIOS settings and overclocking. Thanks in advance!
First of all, how do I read EPP settings? Need to populate 2nd and 3rd settings in DRAM Timing Control, but not sure how to read them... I know 4-4-4-12 are my EPP settings for the 1st bunch of parameters, but that's it.
Additionally, not sure about good voltages to OC my E6400, will need some help here (huge settings difference from my old MB). Pretty sure it won't go far above 500Mhz FSB because of the memory, could get like 450-460 on my old board, though, so wanna see if I can make it to 500.
CPU Voltage (1.45 worked fine before).
CPU GTL Reference (no idea tbh).
CPU PLL Voltage (read that setting more than 1.35 was pointless, is that correct?).
FSB Termination Voltage (no idea tbh).
NB Voltage(any point going above 1.3?).
SB Voltage(any point going above 1.3?).
PCIE SATA Voltage (keeping default 1.5 I assume).
And some more stuff that confused me...
FSB Strap to NB (what's this anyway?).
AI Clock Twister (Stronger is the best, but not sure if it's gonna hurt OCing).
    Load-Line Calibration (Enabled, I guess).
AI Transaction Booster -> Pull-Ins (Enabled?). And PL8 for 1:1 FSB: DRAM I guess.
CPU Margin Enhancement (Performance Mode or Optimized, does it affect OC much?)
    CPU Clock Skew (normal?).
    NB Clock Skew (normal?).
And weren't Spread Spectrum settings supposed to enhance overclocking (stability), not make it worse?
Probably should've looked longer for a good guide for this MB, but not much luck and figured it would be easier to ask actual owners.
P.S. Really looking forward to modded 1611 BIOSes, great job so far.

I updated to mBios 1406 for my P5Q-E and was just wondering if there was any differentiating views or something to indicate that it was successful. My boot logo is still the standard ASUS P5Q-E logo and I didnt see any new or different options in the bios.

CPU-Z shows that its just bios 1406. Should the modded bios read just like regular ASUS bios except for the tweaks that have been added? It seems like the update was successful as I can now hit 460FSB whereas before I was stuck at 450.

If the flashing process went as expected then your BIOS was updated. AFAICT the only indication that your BIOS is modded is how your machine performs and/or OCs.

^ Yep thats pretty much it. its about 50\50 for people who can and can't see the different boot logo, not sure why that is. Other questions I'll let others field for me, I'm busy working on the 1611m BIOSes RIGHT NOW
