What you're missing though is that because the platforms are different, Intel is in essence competing against itself. I'd rather upgrade to a Q9650 from my Q9550 than go with Ci7 at this time. So if Intel lowers prices on the penryn line, most intel users are going to opt to upgrade processors rather than upgrade platform. That is where the Ci7 comes in, it is the hook, if it's priced low enough or comes in very attractive bundles, people are going to bite, from there they'll never look back. I have no degree in marketing, but these things are obvious enough.
