    Ok.

I have ramped my QX9650 up to 4ghz and am getting outside / driving 32-40 fps (fraps) most of the time but this drops to around 20fps at night (especially when raining)..

With the QX at 3.6 it was noticeably slower ... 27-31 fps and 18 when dark and raining!

System in sig, running at 2560 x 1600...

why are people making excuses for this game...you all realise a $310 q9550 can barley play this game unless overclocked right...and some of you are happy about it like were making progress for multi threaded applications or something...

if I understand correctly this game has awfully optimized code and img quality that can't justify investment in reasonably powerful and priced hardware!

Adobe is working on Flash Player support for 64-bit platforms as part of our ongoing commitment to the cross-platform compatibility of Flash Player. We expect to provide native support for 64-bit platforms in an upcoming release of Flash Player following the release of Flash Player 10.1.

    lol that's pretty badly optimization.
Seems like at 800x600 it would be equally as demanding as 2560 x 1600.
It's like there's absolutely no scaling in this game.

Is there any chance they(Rockstar) will bring out some performance patch? In current state, this game has near zero value.

Patch is on the way, but i don't see perfomance details ...

We are working on making a patch available in the next few days. Since Grand Theft Auto IV is a Games For Windows – Live game the patch must be certified by Microsoft before release. The patch is already at Microsoft and we expect a speedy approval.
The patch contains a variety of fixes including:

-A fix to the crash after legal screen that some German customers were reporting.
-Numerous improvements to the video editor: Smarter naming of videos, improved rendering quality, better fx during replays
-Fix to bowling while using certain sensitive mice
    -Fix for ATI 1900 shadows
    -Overall savings to memory
-Graphic improvements to particle systems and mirrors
    -Multiplayer character settings are preserved
-Support for DirectInput controllers. Note: The current hack way of supporting these controllers may not work with the improved functionality. So we recommend you remove the hack before upgrading to the patch.

Issues with power management software have also been fixed (slow speed, double speed issues). Even after the patch comes out setting power management software to maximum performance is recommended. We’ve seen cases where power management software does not detect the game is running and puts the CPU in green mode.

Besides the patch we’ve also improved the way the Social Club handles data this should have greatly reduced or eliminated the Mma10 error. If you are still receiving this error after logging in and out of Social Club we would like to know as much info as you can about it.

Has rockstar even admitted that there are performance issues? I don't think they'll publicly tell everyone that their game has some performance issues.

No way they will admit performance issues. It would be a suicide for PC version sale numbers. They will keep it under the carpet for a while,at least until PC game sites review the game and bury it..

Good that it seems to use three cores almost equally, most games have problems with that. Just like someone said probably because of the XBOX programming. PC programmers should wake up and get multithreaded.

The fact that in every single news thread there is someone looking for that little bit of fight over who has the most cores, best model, better brand etc. is far more hilarious. "The dual core guys" you must be kidding me.

The burden of proof is on you, because most people tend to agree with the 9x, 90%+ and 99% figures and I'm lazy. Why else do you think this is my opinion? That is what I've heard over the years on various boards and my limited experience with diff. friends shows that most of them in fact do not overclock, but game.

Maybe a simpler answer will come from this: It's almost 25-30% faster on QC, does a dualcore overclock 25-30% better than a QC?

Only thing I'd like fixed is the choppy camera movement when you turn corners sharply. Its smooth when you rotate the camera in a fixed position or even driving straight but when you hit a corner it just goes around in such a choppy manner, it's quite bad.

You do realize that the in game benchmark is not typical of actual game play? IE: The in game benchmark is not as graphical intensive as in game play.

Yeah, but I have my doubts. It seems to be well multithreaded for 3 cores, but it could just be a resource hog multithreaded emulator layer. The game simply doesn't justify such insane performance demands. It doesnt even seem to scale at lower resolutions, so...

Two 8800 Ultras to be precise, and the game runs worse than the displayed 38 fps. It is between 17 and 32 fps in actual gameplay

I wish I hadn't payed money for it...
