When i use 1.40 vQPI, then the system sees 6 gb. I memtested the system @ bios default settings. No errors. I tested the modules @ DDR1600 (only 4 gb in bios), no errors. When i use 1.40 vQPI then i do see 6 gb. I memtested these settings, no erros.

    I was using
    20*190
    vcore 1.45 bios
    vqpi 1.40
    CPU PLL 1.80
    turbo off
    HT off
    vdram 1.680 bios
    the rest on auto
    mem timings 8-8-8-24 CR 1

This is stable but BIOS and Windows see only 4 gb. I switched the modules and tested them one by one. No errors. Could this be a CPU Mem controller issue and/or a board issue ?

If other people have the same kit and the same board, running low voltage 6GB then it must be a bad memory controller on the cpu. But since this tech is so new, its hard to call it. Try and test the kit in another board with the same cpu.

Allright I'm giving the P6T a run I am still a Gigabyte person but Fry's had an open box P6T I couldn't resist... I will say there are absolutely no issues and my read write and copy is ridiculous.. So far this board is the most mature by a landslide the bios and settings are very refined for such a new chipset.. I'm very pleased....
    Current:
    Asus P6T-Deluxe
    Core i-7 920 (do) at 4.2Ghz

    Antec Quattro Pro 1000W
    Diamond 5970
    Asus 5870 (reference)

Think i will wait for a new bios. There is a mem problem for sure. When i set the dram timings manually the problems start. If i leave the dram settings on auto the system runs fine but with 10-10-10-25 settings....?

    Hello everyone here!
I just completed my system of GA X58 UD5 and everything seems to be in order and runs well. I haven't started overclocking yet as I want to make sure everything is stable first. One problem that I have is that the system can go into suspend (S3) successfully but will not wake up. The power lights come back on and the fans are spinning but nothing after that.

Does anybody else have the same problems? System in sig.

    Many thanks.
    System:

I don't think you're missing anything obvious. It does sound like the cpu memory controller. The only way you going to really know is to try another cpu.

anyone else have a bit of trouble with the extreme and the screws not quite lining up when installing in their case? maybe its because I installed the silent pipe before I screwed it down?

I have a problem hopefully someone can help

    I7 965
    Giga extreme
    Corsair 1600 MHz memory
    Vista 64 bit sp1
    Tri sli gtx 280
    Thermaltake 1200 psu

I had it before with a qx9650 but only 2 gigs and never had this problem not till I went x58

Ok after stress testing or sometimes randomly after restart I get a flash blue screen. Doesn't happen in dual channel mode only 3channel mode

I have tried default settngs same thing and system repair
    Also different kits same thing

Memtest passes perfect and system is stable once it boots but I kind of have to let it sit for 20 minutes so it can boot. If I take a stick out it boots perfect all three sticks have been tried in different slots

Today it did it cold but booted fine with two sticks

    Yes!

They do not line up perfectly with the motherboard tray in the TJ07. I had to leave a few screws out. No big deal, but still...

anyone has experience with 12gb om the EX58-Extreme?

I dont like the numerous ports about "missing ram" in the third slot.

Meh, i think i'll see if the Extreme is compatible with the OCZ ram i orderd.

I'm using 12GB of 1600 C8 RAM with no complaints except for some other unrelated ones.

By the way the board lines up fine with the mounting holes in my TJ07. Not sure why anyone would have a problem with that...

Any one else having trouble getting the X58 UD5 to start up? I have to keep messing with the switch to get it to boot up, I have the memory 3 x 1gb corsair in the white slots, I have tried the blue and same thing. Light flash then it turns off, I keep hitting the on switch and same thing. I can unplug the PSU push the button and drain the power, plug it back in then keep hitting the on switch, repeat and after several of those I finally get a boot...

do you guys think it's the memory controller or mobo with my problem? I just found out I still have 4 days warranty left but I dunno how the place handles warranties.

Any other steps I can take to diagnose it?

    Maybe the os?

Have you tried an older driver? Not sure about 4870x2's but I can't get my 4850's to run on the cat 8.10 and x58 hotfix with vista x64. Lots of other folks having the same issue.

    I'm back to 8.7
