Even at default settings in the BIOS, 2.66 ghz @ auto volt and the mem @ DDr 1600 XMP the system will only see 4 gb.

I have to use lots of vcore to get to 3.8 with my i7 920. 1.46 in bios, QPI @ 1.400, DDR @ 1.680. I am using BIOS f4f. F3 doesnt help. The system is stable @ 3800 but with only 4 gb. Im thinking the mem controller of the i7 920 is crap.

Does somebody have a tip ?
Which slots are they in and have you tested all the ram? You should see 6Gb in the bios or something is wrong.

Sometimes i see 6 gb. But only @ settings below DDR1100. Antyhting above the system will see only 4 gb in the bios and in Windows. The dimms are in the white slots.

The correct slots. Tried the memory settings on manual? What voltage's are you using?

Maybe you have a bad stick of ram, have you memtested?

When i use 1.40 vQPI, then the system sees 6 gb. I memtested the system @ bios default settings. No errors. I tested the modules @ DDR1600 (only 4 gb in bios), no errors. When i use 1.40 vQPI then i do see 6 gb. I memtested these settings, no erros.

    I was using
    20*190
    vcore 1.45 bios
    vqpi 1.40
    CPU PLL 1.80
    turbo off
    HT off
    vdram 1.680 bios
    the rest on auto
    mem timings 8-8-8-24 CR 1

This is stable but BIOS and Windows see only 4 gb. I switched the modules and tested them one by one. No errors. Could this be a CPU Mem controller issue and/or a board issue ?

If other people have the same kit and the same board, running low voltage 6GB then it must be a bad memory controller on the cpu. But since this tech is so new, its hard to call it. Try and test the kit in another board with the same cpu.

Think i will wait for a new bios. There is a mem problem for sure. When i set the dram timings manually the problems start. If i leave the dram settings on auto the system runs fine but with 10-10-10-25 settings....?

I don't think you're missing anything obvious. It does sound like the cpu memory controller. The only way you going to really know is to try another cpu.
