That is woefully narrow minded. I have a mate and he has a PS3, we were hoping to be able to play online in GTA4.... I guess that will not be possible now?

I'll probably end up buying this, I just want to wait and see how the reviews turn out and if many people cry about bugs etc... I have bought all the other GTA games and loved them.

Why is everyone crying over SecuROM?

I've had games which are SecuROM protected for years, Crysis, F.E.A.R, Bioshock...etc no problems at all. SECUROM DOES NOT EQUATE TO STAR FORCE.

STAR FORCE IS THE AXIS OF EVIL!!!

SecuRom is only a tool for software developers to protect their copyrighted content.

If you don't like it then....use Steam as Steam rocks the socks off

I've been using Steam since 2004, although you must keep a careful eye out on Prices, FYI Left4Dead (good game by the way), is actually cheaper in the shops than through steam. (You only have to enter your CD-Key into Steam and then you do not need the Disc).

Perhaps Rockstar should have gone down that route as SecuROM with it's spinning Discs can be a bit annoying at times!

John
starforce and securom are made by the same team, the only thing that was removed or hasnt appeared yet is flashing firmware. but its got other things like remote root access and it can have heuristicall scanning for virtual devices and pirated software as well as getting cd/validation keys for your os and other software and phone it home

securom also can jump packets to the top of the net stack so they arnt filtered by software and u would need a smart hardware firewall to block it, and how many of us have a $5k enterprise grade network

(all above is for sucurom post but not including 4.6, 4.6 and below uses pings to blank sectors to check latency)

In the past few months I read countless threads dealing with SecuRom (Spore, FarCry 2, Fallout 3...) and I don't think I have read one good reason against SecuRom.

As funny as it sounds, the whole thing reminds me of Salem witch trials. Burn the developers! Burn them to hell! Nooo, they want to secure their product and make money! Oh no!

I'm totally sick of this.
its people who use that argument that keeps the game companies from using the basic securom or just a key and online check that this malware is accepted to be OK and its just the pirates that dont like it, but the pirates dont care securom is easy to break and so is windows live it just makes legitimate people not be able to play

and a last note, if u have securom rom affter 4.6 its always running monitoring it has the potential to keylog track everything u do why would u want that, even if its not doing that now its still using resources watching, if nothing else lowering performance isnt that not the xtreme systems way we wan the most of our systems not to gimp them, so we shouldent back it until its no longer malicious and omnipresent
