Okey thank you guys! I will try those things later, when the temps get lower hehe. Pol, how was your experience with the Gigabyte EP45-UD3P. This days I have been doing some research of it and is really interesting mother

Anyway, here's a hastily cropped CPUz SS; build date is apparently 11/3/08, which is what it shows in the BIOS boot screen as well.

Ok, after a couple days' folding, it appears they made some unfortunate changes in this version. My 24/7 folding OC @ 4.25GHz isn't stable anymore. Testing at the 4GHz point now to see if that one works like it used to.

    With the 7/10 BIOS, this was stable at 4.25GHz (8.5 x 500):

    Vcore: +.125
    Vdimm: +.150
    Chipset: +.225
FSB: Auto (mentioned before; haven't had time to play with it and see what's actually required)
    GTL1: 63%
    GTL2: 67%
    MCH GTL: Auto
    PLL: 1.5v

    CPU Clock Skew: 200ps
    -----
After it crashed while folding, I tried bumping chipset to +.250 and it was stable for over 48 hours, but it just crashed again this evening. Didn't have time to play with it, so I dropped it back to my previous 24/7 settings for 4GHz (Changes to above: (9 x 445), Vcore: +.75, Chipset +.025 & CPU Clock Skew: Auto).

One other change I noticed is that they have split the RAM timings into two groups. There is one group with the main timings (first five or six, can't remember exactly where they split it) and another with the rest. You can leave either of them by SPD and put the other one on Manual if you so choose.

Still playing with it, but I'll probably be headed back to 7/10 since 4.25GHz isn't stable as it was.

hokiealumnus, do You know, is there P4 support with the new BIOS?
Btw, where did You get it? It's not on Biostar homepage

My main question would be for performance. Is it changed? I hope so, because this board is pretty slow in Super Pi...

    Sorry, no idea.

A friend (Lvcoyote) had it emailed to him from Biostar and he sent it to me. It's uploaded to mediafire here. Being a beta, it stands to reason they don't have it on the web page.

No idea, haven't compared the two, but the 7/10 BIOS seemed ok to me. SP1M @ 9.859s @ 4.7GHz without even trying.

Tested watercooling and QX6700 - result is horrible. One of the monfets exploded. I have not done any changes to the mosfet cooling, when I took it off, the pink sh....t was partly burned (black)

The temp of those four mosfets had to be 100c +, because soldering stuff has boiled out.

i posted a heatsink cooling upgrade back a while ago...the pink stuff is not designed to give you a good cooling solution!

check this link and the link in my signature for the parts needed...obviously to late for you but others are forewarned again!

we had problems with Abit's IP35 Pro cooling solution; obvoulsy not quite what happened to you!...i came up with a heatpipe mod for that to improve cooling.

i am curious about this board. In overclocking state above 4ghz for E8400 does the setup run for 24/7 or even more? i usually left my pc open for days.

    My 24/7 boot for E8500 was 5 Ghz (8X620) and 5,4 Ghz for E8600 (10X540).

when i ran Prime 95 on a QX9650 (air cooled), the PWM area and caps got very warm outside of the case...i measured about 87C (surface temp) on a few caps surrounding the PWM area...of course, that was after i pulled the pink or salmon color "TIM" off the PWM part of the heatsink...i applied ceramiqe in that area and MX2 paste on the NB and SB.

Hello everyone, i'm new on this forum so I hope I post well, and thanks a lot for this very good threads witch contain a lot of infos

Well I have this board too and have made some tests at 10x480 (E8600) one month ago and everythings was ok. Then when I tried to put everything stock again but I can only boot with RAM set at 800Mhz. Having no time I leave it so for a moment. But yesterday I realise that my PCI-E run at 1X instead ok 16X. I do some tests but can't have PCI-E at 16X.
Have anyone an idea? Is it a know problem?
    Thanks

24/7 implies complete stability. I would love to see screenshots showing that at anywhere near those settings.

I didn't mention, that I am useing SS. Sry. I am setting my startup according to the temperature I (cooling) can handle. I run several Orthos'es for few hours with max voltage and monitoring temp readings. If it stays normal, I set clock according to the max voltage.
And so I was testing the QX6700 when that firework happened. Cooling was water (chiller).

I do not have any Orthos screens - there was no reason to make those.

Right, I have found that I cant get any higher than 4.08GHz, (not properly stable, only for everyday taks, no stress, superpi stable) and so I now, when I build the next computer using that motherboard, or the one above, will get better RAM,
SO, apart from the shellshocks shown earlier, any other reccomendatyions, I can get Corsair Dominator PC8500 2gb for around £35, anything better?
    Setup:
    Biostar 45 HP, e8200, 2gb OCZ Platinum PC6400, (max speed I have got to is 1020mhz(510) superpi stable), cl5, HD4850 512mb, Corsair 620HX, Antec 900, AF7.....

    Thanks

Aight fellows I'm new to this Biostar Tpower I45..I got the board reason of the Oc World Record holding..
I guess the reason is trying oc it myself over 4.0ghz holding a low Voltage as possible and pass a stress test..I got it to boot at 4.5ghz but did'nt pass (Orthos) with flying colorsif you read my specs that what..I have..I just want it to run right with a decent OC and some how that hard to figure
    out any help is Thankful

Take Geil/Team Xtreem/Ballistics. Look for aftermarked for Micron D9 - the list is here: http://ramlist.i4memory.com/ddr2/

    HI,
Well, a little progress, I got to 4.4, superpi stable, and so im very impressed with this RAM, stock is 800, and it was running at 1100, although I would like some faster RAM at stock, so I do not have to overclock quite so much, (so I can have a little more headroom)

Well, I have been looking at memoryc.com
And, while this ocmputer is done and dusted, I am hoping to build one for myself around christmas, although I will be getting some bits sooner, and I was wondering, should I go 2 or 4 gb?
And, i tihnk this is micron RAM, is it any good? Seems like a great price for micron PC-8500 ram, from G.Skill :
    http://www.memoryc.com/computermemor...0hkseries.html
Or, should I go for something like this:
    http://www.memoryc.com/computermemor...itestakit.html
    , or this:
    http://www.memoryc.com/computermemor...luscl4kit.html

    Thanks for all your help,

you like Hopfully your system will be 64bit cause if it's
32bit it will not see pass 3.5ghz on a 32bit system..

My OCZ memory hasn't really been a good clocker on this board or my previous p35 board. It's rated at 1066, but I see errors as soon as I hit 1080. I'd think this ram should have more headroom than it does. The labels on the dimms specify 2.2v as the proper voltage. The closest I can get with the .1v mem voltage increments on this board is 2.168 or 2.268. I've been running the former, would it be safe to go to the latter? Certainly .068v over the manufacturer spec'd 24/7 voltage couldn't do that much dammage, could it? I tried it briefly, and found I'm stable and without memory errors at up to 1125mhz with that voltage at 5-5-5-15-60 on PL9.
