Well, I guess your Striker does really hate you hehe
I took the striker back out and put the FTW Digital back in, since eVGA is being a bully and won't let me step-up to a new socket type.

So...How much do you think I should sell my Striker for? I wish thinking 200ish. Or maybe bundle my E6600 and Striker II so I can get 300ish. For my new board or something.

Before you drop your cash on the new core 7

    Hey all,

I know we all love new toys, but check out this review:

    http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/articl...50aHVzaWFzdA==

I just finished my own installation this morning with the new Asus Palm MB, and the new core i7 3.2. Not sure what I was expecting but it doesnt seem any faster and bench marks are a bit lower in games as shown. I'm returning and sticking with my SE2 and 9770.

According to those graphs, it seems to show that the video card is getting slightly more bottlenecked with this new cpu/chipset since there is an actual improvement from 16x12 and below. But even then its only slightly.

Yea, right now I have two 280s in sli and my far cry 2 scores were only different by two points! between the two systems.

Hi guys, been facing issues with my striker II extreme and was wondering if anyone could help me out

everest memory and 3dmark seem to perform much better at 1600fsb linked and synced with RAM, but immediately at 1601 and above it will just drop like 3k points off everest and 5k points off 3dmark, really strange

even if i leave the ram unlinked at 1600 and increase the cpu to 1601 and above it will still spark the drop

from that point onwards, any increases to clock speed will only yield performance boosts from the dropped point onwards

anyone know why it would do this?

running : asus striker ii extreme
    intel q9550 quad-core
    kingston hyperx ddr3-1800 4 X 1GB

    thanks in advance!

Hi im finding it really hard to hit 4ghz with my qx9650 at a vcore of 1.4000 with llc enabled. In cpuz it shows its like 1.46vcore.I have upped the vcore to like 1.4375 and still fails prime95,seems to be always thread no3 that fails. My memory is Corsair 4GB DDR3 DHX 1600C7DHX 7-7-7-20 at 1.9v.I have fsb at 1601 linked and sycned as at 1600 fsb bang on it will freeze.I have looked all over the net and see people hitting 4ghz with little vcore and prime stable for hours mines fails in 2 -3 mins.I think it could be this m/b it overvolts like mad.Anyone with some settings i can try which u have hit your qx9659 at 4ghz stable.

4ghz@1.5vcore still fails prime95 could it be i really got a bad chip here or a really crap overclocking board here.

Have you tried upping your NB voltage and /or the CPU VTT? I have found benefit with NB voltages above 1.5 and VTT 1.30 to 1.36. Check the Striker II Extreme thread in the intel section.

As a point of reference what are you guys hitting on your NB and what program do you use to read it?
I'm water cooling the CPU so I've got one of the Asus optional fans on, thinking of buying another/a 40mm fan and strapping it onto the top mosfet heatsink but in the mean time setting my NB to 1.6 gets temps in the ~62C region (Everest) and that's including a quick airflow hack:

(Slice of cardboard curved to direct air flowing across the top of the case down through the heatsink, drops temps by about 1-2C, not bad for 2 minutes, a cut up flyer and some duct tape).

Trying to reach 3.4Ghz on a Q9550 and I think the NB voltage is what's slowing me down :/ More info in link in sig.

Tried them settings to,again it fails strait away in prime95 i think i got a bad chip just to scared to put more than 1.5vcore to achieve 4ghz.I guess i got a bumb chip and will have to live with it after paying mega bucks for it and cant even get 4ghz on it well pxxxxed off.Or is it i got a bad m/b that does not suply the right voltage .

Hi, are you sure the Prime errors are from CPU?????

Test Prime95 small FTT for CPU only, Blend tests both CPU & memory & should only be used as a reference when you know CPU oc is completely stable.

My suggestion is that you leave cpu stock & run blend test to check your mem, or leave mem on loose timings/speed & check your CPU oc with with small FTT.

Many times the errors you see during Blend are directly memory/NB errors that lead to confusion because they are reported as a Core failure but in fact have nothing to do with it.

Yep for sure cpu THERE IS NO WAY i can prime this qx9650 at even 1.45 vcore in bios i set it to 1.4000 but as this board overvolts its really 1.4500.I can prime it at 3.8ghz at vcore reading of 1.3900 seem to be no problems there.

Maybe you need to raise your NB a little (BIOS 1.50) & VTT (BIOS 1.30)??

My CPU needs BIOS vCore 1.31 for 3.8Ghz (450x8.5) NB 1.42, but for 4.05Ghz (450x9) it needs a big bump to vCore 1.418v for those extra 200Mhz & a 0.4 increase in NB.

I definately think that 1.50 is excessive for just 4Ghz, I would play a little with VTT & NB. I suppose LLC is disabled..

CPU VTT is too low, try 1.30 or greater, It adds to CPU stability
