I said I was able to get to 4.205 Ghz Stable. I can't remember the voltage though. and I currently run 4.000 Ghz at 1.304v and thats fine, but I'm also at 1.4v FSB/VTT so I'd say you should at least try setting that up to 1.35 instead of the 1.3 you say your on. or even go to 1.4

Also have you tried changing the GTLREF's. I see you said they are all on 85. my board was at stock speed core 0,1,2,3... my core 1 was auto'd at 67 only that core. and upon oc to 4.0 Ghz it went to 105 and the rest didn't move. so I went down to 95 on it and took the rest up a notch. I'm sure Nvidia is different from yours. but thats what I did. you should try changing those around. and whatever core fails in Prime, only higher that cores GTL... make sense. until they are all stable. then try lowering vcore again.

P.s. I've still not installed my PCP&C 750w Quad yet. I'm retarded. I'll do it the next 2 days that I have off.. as I've yet to install. any other new part I'd throw in there instantly. but I've been procrastinating. not sure why. lol

edit* I see your on the 780i. so you should have similar GTLREF's. athough mine go from 0-150 if I remember right. and yours start off in negative numbers.. so 85 might be to high. you should go to evga.com and check out there Q9650 thread. the guys in there almost all have 780i's and 790i FTW's and they could really give you GTLREF pointers.. thats important for fine tuning!

well it seems alright to me every thing Is stable my glt go up in 5's and start at 0 I'll get the evga forums 1.37 at 4.2 is not bad is it. Be aware that 1.40 fsb kills 45 CPUs anyways so watch out with that mate

can everyone put down there overclock there best stable. With vid, vcore and fsb. Let's see if the vid makes any diffrence or if these chips are limited to the board. Anything with a max vcore of 1.45 and board. No benchers what you would use 24/7. This should be a great start for all new comers

Think that myth is already busted I too play it on the safe side but many many users are running their quads 24/7 way out of voltage spec and yet I have to find one that killed his CPU... all depends more on the mobo/user then solely on the CPU...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

Yeah i run my Q9550 1.4V 24/7 easily. There is only 0.15 increase from default voltage so its OK for everything. Voltage range for crocodiles!

    My Contribution...

Well guys this are my first contribution on this old mobo (as leeghoofd always says ), not a big result but good for me

    My special thanks for

Jorl3BR, Leghoofd, Cryptik, WizardOfOz, Flinch, NapalmV5

And for all the ppl who kindly answer the questions always

You're free to advice me on other settings as this is my first encounter with a 45nm...

    AndreSerio,

    Very nice Sergio!

Remember that's only the beginning! This chip has a lot of headroom for the future before jumping in a expensive new platform.

    Good Job

Thank you mate I will test but not try too much volts...cauz i'm testing slowly as i don't have intermediate values, for ex on vtt i just have from 1,1 / 1,2 /1,3 /1,4...so i think that a little more vcore to balance...NB seems not to help too much, the GTL's yes...

The Clock Overcharging values i never tested they're on auto and also the skews i don't know how to use them...

    Cheers

On My DFI CPU voltage is always lower then VTT for stability on this Q9650. So if I use 1.32vcore the Vtt would be somewhere between 1.45-1.50. That is the opposite effect I had with my Q6600.

Dunno how it's playing with other boards but if I leave VTT = Vcore or lower I get Prime95 fail.

Nice work Sergio, that is a very respectable speed/vcore. You now have more cpu power than you'll know what to do with initially

CPU and NB clock skews affect the cpu and northbridge respectively. When you increase the FSB, especially above 400, the clock begins to drift, and the clock skew setting allows you to pull it back a little. This can aid stability. With wolfdales, anywhere from 100 - 500ps delay can help, usually 300 - 500 produces the best results. I'm not sure about quads, I've never owned one. With the NB clock skew, it can be used in conjunction with the cpu clock skew, but it requires less adjustment, usually 100 - 300ps works well.

Just play around with them, they may help stabilize the system at higher FSB.

    Thanks CryptiK

I realized that it passed Prime small FFT's but not more than 30mins of BLEND (i always test first small FFT's then BLEND) so after tweaking i found that the inestability came from this:

    Static Read = Enabled

I had to set it Disabled and passed perfect...I'm now testing with Transaction Booster to lower Performance Level

    Cheers

Yes, i think your NB is at it's limit at that FSB with a quad and 2 x 2GB of ram. It's a pity you have to disable SRC and lose performance, rather than just increase vNB. I think you definitely need a board better suited to 45nm cpu's for oprimal results.

CryptiK: What board would you recommend then, that doesn't limit the FSB for an E0 quad like the P5Q deluxe? I just got myself a nice E0 Q9550 clocker for testing and it can definitely use some good FSB > 470MHz. Thanks.

He's referrring to the P5K Dlx ( P35 based mobo) not the P5Q Dlx which handles quads also just fine.... the P5K Dlx needs more ram options in the bios to let her show her true colours... but it's still a damn fine board pushing quads up to 470ish region....
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

    Well i tested

Transaction booster = AUTO / Static Read = Disabled and 266 strap and gave me PL9 with mems at 1113Mhz CL5 on stock volts...

I will test with Transaction booster = 1 or 2 / Static Read = Disabled...

It's as leeg said this board can go up to 470 on fsb and mems need some tweaking

    Cheers

Thanks Leeghoofd and andressergio. Is there a board proven to run the E0 quad's FSB at 480 ~ 490 stable (or above)?

No this board for sure will reach max 470 for bench...stable i tried to 455x9 for now, but not 490 for sure, i have a friend on a rampage doing that, also the Maximus II can hit that, well many new boards guess also it's a good combination of a good batch, good mems and good hand that will let you go up on fsb...

So far i pushed her a bit more and get it stable small/blend on

    Almost there!

got most of the stuff for the new rig, q9650, striker II, corsair 1000w psu, 300 gig wd raptor, evga gtx 280 x2, swiftech gtz block, mcp655b pump, 11 x 5 inch rad, but i'm not sure about a couple of things left, so i'm lookin for a little advice :

what are the quietest 120 fans out there?
silverstone tj10 , cosmos s or cosmos csx case?
and most of all mem, i was looking at these gskull's, overkill ? to much of a gimick ? or are they worth it?

Guys I have a Rampage Formula with the Q9650. I have reached 4.1 GHz and wanted to know how to view the NB / SB temperature and voltages. I am running around 71 C load with Xigmatek S1283 CPU cooler according to Real Temp. Is it ok or should be reduced?

Sure...the settings in bios as follows:
    CPU PLL: 1.5v
    VFSB: 1.153v
    VNB: 1.153v
    CPU GTL's : +10/-40/+10/-40
    NB GTL: +20mV

Will try to lower further if possible, although i am very happy with this.
