No only raise the cpu voltage to 1.55v, Only raise nb voltage if you are going past 2300-2400 maybe just a little for stability ...you need to try it out and see if it helps. If you raise the nb voltage and it doesnt help lower it dont leave it and keep adding volts.

Did you figure out what is your highest overclock on just the cpu?? You need to leave everything at stock and keep raising the multi till you need to add voltage to the cpu, add voltage, then up the multi again till you need to add voltage. At around 3.2ghz start testing using games 3dm06 and super PI if they pass without reboot try a little higher 3.3ghz then again try games 3dm06 and super PI. stop when you dont want to add more voltage to the cpu. Watch temps......try it out

    Ok I got to 3.5 on 1.55v. 250x14 DDR 2v.

    Ran 3dMark06 - 18428 and left the 4870x2 stock.

Thoughts? Next steps to push higher?

    3.5Ghz is just great man.Congrats!
What CPU score in 3dmark06 are you getting at these clocks? Are you on Vista or XP?

As for the next steps question,i would hold out a month or so and get Deneb (Phenom II 940).By the looks of things ,it should be a monster OCer,4+Ghz on water, higher on more extreme cooling. It is socket comp. so it's a drop in upgrade.

Did you see where it hit 5.0 Ghz at 1.6v on DICE? They reported it did well over 5.0 GHz on LN2 at 1.9v. Heres the article:

there ya go, congrats, glad it worked out.........see if you can play games and do regular things long term thorughout the day and not get reboots or lockups then you should be fine. 3.5ghz is above average so you are good if not try for 3.6ghz using the same process

,, Phenom !! is gonna be wicked........

Im glad i decided to push my 9950 for three months @ VID 1.55 with 1.65+volts ... hahhaa i even Now maxed the ASUS 79-T@ 1.72volts with the 140watt monster... This means i can now say phenom can take the Volts if tweaked right..

My only complaint ( We need more powerfull Mobos or Digiatal PWM)

AKA Dragon seems like a good name for fire breathing Phenom !! platform(AMD)

P.S. Keep NB volts low keeps CPU cooler....Give it just what it needs not what you want... Low HT is key to 3.6ghz with loose ram.

I use high Volts cause i can,,
I recomend you raise the Volts slow and pay close attention to temps..

Thanks for this useful post, but when you say low HT, how low do you mean?

Your overall HT will be around 1600mhz,, yes going High CPU clocks the Phenom like Lower than 2000ht..I can be tricky so adjust one setting at a time ..Even the Ram dividers can afect how stable the HT will clock.

Ht @ 1.8 or 1.6 and even 1.4 ...it all depends on if you are raising the HTT above 200

    200 x 7 = 1400mhz ht = 1.4
    200 x 8 = 1600mhz ht = 1.6
    200 x 9 = 1800mhz ht = 1.8
    200 x10 = 2000mhz ht (stock) = 2.0

Going above 200 will also raise the givin divider for HT ,,

    220 x 7 = 1540mhz ht
    220 x 8 = 1760mhz ht
    220 x 9 = 1980mhz ht
    220 x10 = 2200mhz ht

    210 x 7 = 1470mhz ht
    210 x 8 = 1680mhz ht
    210 x 9 = 1890mhz ht
    210x10 = 2100mhz ht

    Note :
The NB needs to be set higher or the same as HT. @3.55ghz my Nb dosnt like more than 2100mhz,, no matter the Volts. So id say its my limit on the IMC and NB with high clocks for my 9950(140wat). The 125watters clock better than mine,,Thus should be able to go Hihger with less volts ..

    Hope that helps..

    gotcha, thanks dude.

One more question, when you say looser timings, how much looser from what they run at did you set yours?

    Hmm it will depend on your ram...My says 5-5-5-12 @1200mhz @ 2.3volts

I can do 1280mhz with 6-6-6-18 or 6-7-7-24.. it gets tricky ..if anything run you r ran on auto then change it to manual and write down what it set.. then raise the settings up one notch ..

So if it reads 5-5-5-18 2t @ 800 divider ( when set to auto)
    Change it to 6-6-7- 18(or 21) .. (manualy ) ..

you can always set tigher timing after you get that high OC..

wright down what you change ,,so you know what works and what dosnt

Note: use CPU-Z to check what Volts your Ram runs and what timing.. But do the Auto ram timing first and i bet CPU-Z will show its set slightly higher(looser) than what its specs are.

had to up the voltage no where near stable at 3.4 around the 1.35 - 1.385 range

up to 1.4v on CPU and needed to drag the NBV up to 1.365

1 pass so far so good =D

had to up the voltage no where near stable at 3.4 around the 1.35 - 1.385 range

up to 1.4v on CPU and needed to drag the NBV up to 1.365
yeah, once you start to get up there the chip really needs more juice to become stable. But be careful and monitor your temps bro.

Not sure if link works, but 4395 CPU score in 06 isnt to shabby. I forgot to throw the OC on my video card our i would have been over 16k (

    But 15661 isnt bad

Good score dude. However I think the CPU score should have been higher. I get a hair under 5k at 3.41 Ghz

*GameOver*: I'm jealous!! Looks like you have a VERY good chip there...

I know I tend to preach this piece of software a little, but running hours of Prime have already killed one of my Mobo's (PWM) and it didn't always relate to 100% stability even after hours of stress...

IntelBurnTest isn't perfect either, but a 1/2 hour run (5 loops) will give you a much better idea of wether your system is stable without killing your board....

Just a suggestion, but it's the only program I use for final stress testing anymore...

WOW!, just noticed your getting those clocks on an SB600 board.
    Golden Chip man... Gratz...

^^^ ihave to agree with that chip being golden. Kinda like my 9850. 3.55 GHz @ only 1.456v . I miss that damn thing. << oh and it was stable, too bad it only lasted a few days, crapped out on me. Have no idea why.

ty ty i havent tried that prog yet but ill give it a whirl id hate to kill this chip or board ) I used to roll a 9850... damn thing wouldnt go anywhere over 2.6ghz stable would even die at 2.7 no matter how many volts i fed it.

    Vantage score. If i had 2 4870x2's i could be a contender ))

3.5 seems a bit harder wont do it a 1.4 im guessing 1.45 and 1.4 on the NB

while gaming i dont break 40c granting im wearing a hoodie inside :P mighty cold tonight id say the room is around 45 to 50f.

P14174 3DMarks. 37036 CPU marks ( im sure this tainted due to the Nvidia PhysX)
    11755 GPU Marks

The most impressive thing for me is the Ram. 5-5-5-15 Ganged, For some reason i can OC higher being Unganged but it cuts my pro. down a bit.

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...0/CPUScore.jpg <--- to big to post duno why im still lower Maybe its the Ganged mode? only difference i can see.

    1.4v ,, Nice work,,

    PWM's/power phases .. i sent a few to doomsville.

    Prime+9950+Me+@1.65volts = a slightly volitile recipe

So i dont use prime for extended use(8+hours)while using Highvolts, i know what it does .

Note: find where to adjust the NBchipset volts ...SB600 you can raise to 1.3v- 1.32v(safely) for added stability if you decide to raise the Ram Freqency or run tighter timing in most cases.

Your running 4gigs so that alone stresses the IMC/NB vs running 2gigs..
Raising nbchipset volts helps it perform in that department
