i920 unlocked downwards, heres a quick validation of the msi platinum I havent had time to oc it but i just upped the fsb to 3ghtz without increasing any volts. Was real stable. I have to learn how to clock this board, Runs good on my cheap kingston ram 6bs in tri channel. This board has ol school dip switches also and is a monster compared to my old X2.

Have you tried to boot with dip switch set to 166 or 200 bclock? Im wondering if that is a really easy ocer board.

I was wondering if I could get some help with my sig rig. Basically trying to get 4GHz to bench with tri-channel(one set of my HZ's was in the mail when I got the setup on monday, so been running dual chan) and haven't had any luck. I know I probably am overvolting things, but it seems to be the only way to get anything to work. For cooling I am using a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 with MX-2. I've included a link to the ram I am using and pics of the BIOS screens for overclocking. If anymore information is needed let me know and I will update asap. Sorry for the size of the pics.

    lol
there is a 1366 version of the V8 available (seen in one place here) and i've seen a socket adaptator for cooler master products and socket 1366

is the +0,5 volt limit between qpi/dram ans ram bus or vcore and dram bus ?
if its with qpi you'd better be carefull...

isn't your clocking issue due to turbo mode enable and multi on auto ?

Needs the same volts with those disabled. I've heard that the RAM volts should be around 1.5x the QPI/DRAM, there are a whole bunch of theorys on this currently I think and it might be a while till we know which are true.

No I havent messed with the dip switches yet been 2 busy. The board itself is real stable, I did run memtest86 and no errors at boot. Booted right up no problems, run all black dimms 2g sticks= 6gbts. Ok time for more testing going for 24hr prime stable.

    true, everything is quite new...

as for the turbo mode, should'nt it improve OC when disabled as it's not modifying the multi for one or 2 cores ?

Can anyone confirm the memory multi is unlocked beyond 6&8 on retail 920/940? All the 920/940 screenshots I've seen are with a 6 or 8 multi.

yea ram multi have more options, just overclocking those chips dosnt allow higher multi unless you want to push the ram way up.
8x200bclk means 1600mhz which my ram for example wont do.
    (1333mhz)
    6x is lowest tho

If anyone needs to figure out the right base clock and multiplier combination to run the core, uncore, ram and QPI close to their maximum values, i made a little tool like the one i made years ago for the Athlon 64. (see sig)
Just enter the maximum MHz that you know your core, uncore, memory and QPI bus can do, pick the right cpu model, and hit the submit button.

I just kinda got it working and i don't have much time to work on it, but it seems to do a pretty decent job so far.

There might still be some multipliers missing as I'm still trying to find out exactly which ones are available.
Especially the QPI multi is still a little confusing because some boards have 18x, 22x, 24x while others call them 36x, 44x, 48x.
On the form the QPI speed should be entered in MHz not GT/s. For example the stock QPI speed of the 965 is 6.4 GT/s, which is 3200 MHz.

(Still debating on if i want to get an i7 now, or wait for 55nm Geforces to get a new setup)
