You are stacking them, but with the rad sandwiched in the middle :P
Can't find the thread now... we discussed this some time ago, and Marci and Vapor seemed to concur on this particular point.
I will not be the one that contradicts those two when it comes to fans. If you want to, be my guest![]()
Vapor said not to stack fans directly unless they are counter rotating... I don't remember him saying anything about "stacking" fans with a radiator between them.
The reason you shouldn't stack fans directly is because when air exits a fan, it's like a tornado... it has a twist to it. The counter rotating fans cut this twist to increase CFM. The radiator between your "stacked" fans cuts the twist too.
Waste of time, despite the low fin density you nee at least an 100 CFM fan to get 60cfm through that rad thickness. Now let me go buy some 100 cfm 140mm fans...... oh wait you cant.
I distinctively remember that detail... mainly because until Marci mentioned it, I had never heard about counter-rotating fans...
It's an idea I toyed with until, to confirm his words, wasn't able to find any 12V counter-rotating fan, only 220V ones, which added and unwanted layer of difficulty to my build...
Edit: Found it!

Back on topic, to be honest my approach to this particular item is... unexcitement.
I had enough ice skating uphill to fit 2 x PA120.3s on the bottom of my V2010... I can't deal with yet another "square peg in round hole" situation.
Now... if someone would offer a rad that performs like a PA120.3 in a PA120.2 size or smaller using the same fans, now that would probably get me excited![]()
remember this is pre production, and who ever leaked this to OCUK is going to have words with them, still not aloud to realese the photos yet

I thought this was XS? Bunch of comments without ANYTHING to back them up . . .we need TESTS . . .flow tests, temp delta tests (temp going into and out of the rad), temp tests with different fan configurations . . .etc
You can comment on the looks but saying what it will and will not do is speculation . . .
"Thing is, I no longer consider you a member but, rather a parasite...one that should be expunged."
Ill be getting 8 and making a case out of them
Whats up?
They are a sponsor . . .and I use Black Ice rads and TC rads in builds . . .if you do some searching you will see I say the same thing about any vendor that gets crucified without data to back it up . . .one of the things I have hated about XS but that improved which caused me to come back . . .
We WANT as many new products to try out and either approve or not . . .but at least we need to test them so we have a basis . . .this is the only way to avoid the lame fan boi/anti-fan boi mentality . . .and to have credibility . . .notice I have not defended these rads since I do not have them in hand . . .at the moment I do have four Feser TFC rads, four or five TC rads, six or so black ice rads, and four XSPC rads in my house . . .
Andy you do have a point in disclosure . . .no offense taken bud . . .
So WHO is going to do an updated radiator shootout? Someone should contact all the major rad vendors and get their latest and greatest including the TCs that are supposed to be coming out and test the heck out of them . . .

Man, one can dream...I just had a thought that flashed through my head like a lightning bolt...
A 140mm San Ace "King of The Hill" Imagine a San Ace just like the famous 120's but ina 140 with the same specs only quieter. If that came out, I might have to work on drawing upa custom panel in Cadd for my Ascension and then calling Ben for that one. hehe 2x 5 by 140's = World Domination!
OK, I need to quit before my CC is confiscated. hehe![]()
I agree with T Flight... World Domination!
Haha, that rad is huge. I cant wait for some tests...
With all due respect I've read no bashing so far in this thread.
Saying that something is ugly is not bashing, is a matter of taste.
Of course is just an educated guess, but speculating that you may need more powerful fans to push/pull air through it seeing it's thickness I think is a reasonable speculation. Besides, again, speculation =/= bashing.
Finally, that thing looks unwieldy. I mean, even by our standards is BIG. Speculating over wheter if/how would fit or not in a case is again not bashing.
As I said before, personally I'm unexcited. They could make a 200.8 sixtuple pass radiator and it would dissipate more watts than my current 120.3's... however, I would need to put in on a separate room.
What would excite me is something smaller and more wieldy than the current available products that would perform the same. That I would consider a real breaktrough. Increasing the size to increase the performance... well, gives you choice, but that's about it...
NEEDS MOAR GROUND EFFECT LIGHTING AND A MASSIVE WING SPOILER
owait...
I'd like to see some temps![]()
Just saw this. Oh man! Words!Tell them to send me those words. Just tell them I leaked them. I'm good at ignoring stuff like that.
They're out, and they're getting free advertising. Might not wanna go off not thinking. Think, before you do...especially when it comes to the Internet. Trust me, I've learned that, and see it too many times.
There comes a point where you can only get so much fin area in such a small form factor, and you can only get so much performance out of that fin area. You can only get so much flow through the radiator. Instead of increasing fin density (and thus, fin area), they increased the form factor of the radiator, to maintain a low fin density so people can use slower fans and keep noise down.
Like I said before, you can only get so much flow and fin area at a given noise level, and that limits performance. To increase performance, you have to increase the fin area, and the only way to increase fin area without increasing noise is to make the fin density go down so you can use quieter fans, making form factor size go up.
I think this rad is taking Thermochill's thick rad, low fin density to a whole new extreme. Low fin density, but huge fins in an even bigger form factor. Even more performance for those who need it quiet, in a slightly larger form factor.
Can't argue with that...
It seems there's interesting times ahead with the forthcoming (or so it seems) PA120.4, PA140.x etc. etc. from TC and FTC trying new things like the OP's.
Interesting times for those with MM Ascension cases of course :P
Still, there hasn't been a major stir in the rad deparment for years... maybe something good will come out of this?
Like others have said . .we have NO idea what this thing will need and how it will perform . . .making statements about what it would need and how what it would need is not even available is . . .at least here . . .bashing or close to it . . .at least that is how I see it . . .again . . .let's have testing . . .independent testing . . .

i cant wait for my pre production sample![]()
