Depends on the manufacturer support, the X58 fully supports 24GB of memory, running 12GB and 24GB on the MSI X58 Eclipse.

What's your source of information? As Mr.Guv says, Intel hasn't published anything yet. Extremetech is the only place i've seen talking about it at all. I just read HardOCPs look at the Rampage Extreme II and they say it supports 12GB, however, it sounds like they're basing that on the number of slots.

I know the Eclipse has been rumored to support 24 GB but without an official launch who knows how much x58 supports without added features from the mobo manafacturer.

I have the ASUS Rampage II Extreme, ASUS P6T-Deluxe, MSI X58 Eclipse, and Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 all running 12GB at this time. The MSI would POST and run fine with 24GB, although I could not push it since the BIOS is still maturing. If you need a screenshot, go here - FSX with 12GB .
