He got also 105 TJcasemax set... but might be a good idea to verify the mount, reapply the thermal paste , check IHS of cpu and verity the cooler flatness...

Thanks, I wasn't aware of the CPU PLL quirk.
Did some quick 30 min testing and have it relatively stable with the following tweaks:
    FSB: 488
    CPU Voltage: 1.35000
    CPU PLL 1.52
    FSB Termination Voltage: 1.34

The rest is the same as before. I'm not too worried about temps at this point, since if it gets unstable when it's hot, watercooled+summer I expect it to hit the same temps as I'm a silence nut.

Heading out for the day so I will let this thing Prime and hopefully will have a nice screenie when I get back! I'm enjoying this board more than my M2F

If I can hit 8x500 24 hour stable, then I'll move on to testing my Q9550 (also a C1 unfortunately).

Is TJcasemax not supposed to be 105 for these chips??

Anyone ever thought of using ASUS ExpressGate SSD as mean of accelerating Windows startup? I don't see this as impossible thing if we could only get direct access to it...
Anyone ever tried something like that?

Try to see if this is stable... 2.0 "real" volts with that ram at 1080Mhz is doubtfull to me ... try to put 2.0 in bios and see if it improves stability...

Also does the NB heatsink get hot when you run eg IBT ? if not, it probably has got bad contact with the chipset itself due to bad TIM, not enough pressure,... on which OS can you run IBT or OCCT : 32bit XP ? I can tell you it's not accurate at all on 32bit... IBT can pass with flying colours, yet prime craps out on me even after an hour...

I really don't get you at all, you always post regarding lowering your temps, but still keep clocking and even clocking higher... make up your mind lol or move to Iceland and leave the window open 24/7...
If you don't feel comfortable with the temps, clock down then...not up

Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

I wish I could OC in Iceland, that would make it interesting

Had my setup up to 3904,8x488 Stable, 8x490 I can prime for awhile but talk about hitting a wall/sheesh! Dropped er back down to 8x486 for daily running as the volts are Much better and I really couldn't see much of a difference there. Compatible Mode for the CME setting did open up the pipe a bit tho to allow some more headroom. Just an observation.

I did all the testings in Win XP x64. I will try to re seat the heatsink and reply thermal paste.

Thank you Leeghoofd for your reply.

    Question

is there anything bad about running a .61x cpu gtl ref?

i noticed i can lower vcore quite a bit if i use the lower ref.

    Same chip, higher clock!!
This thing likes FSB Termination Voltage when I clock up. I had it at 1.34 and it was unstable.

I just finished reading the first 185 pages, great thread. I saw a lot of questions about strap selection, and thought I would share the following link, which explains the relationship between the strap and tRD (Common Performance Level/PL)

    here's my template:

For some reason certain voltages @ or above 1.30V on the NB make this board flaky. I'm going to run my NB voltages as low as possible running my 4 gigs @ 1066MHz and then work my way back up again to see if I really need voltages above 1.3V on my NB.

    Anyway......

Mine have same issues, i cant stabilize my overclock because i cant go above 1,3v on northbridge, anyone knows anything about? bios? what is the cause?

I have really uncertain views on LLC. But I think in general enabling it can do more help than harm.

Thats wierd, I have pushed my NB up to 1.6V and never had a problem.

In fact I need 1.5V+ on NB for Quad to bench at 500+fsb

That is odd, must be quality control, mine needs 1.36 for the high 480's on th NB.

seems that this is more common that we generaly think.., anyone know some workaround? Maybe chipset heatsink with bad contact? i have taken out mine and change the thermal paste, maybe this give me the problem, i am not sure.

the MB Temp is the chipset temp, or is a more general temperature of motherboard?

What FSB volt do you use? I've been told that FSB volt and NB volts shouldn't be more than 0.1 volt apart

Q9550 e0, 1.32v vTT, i am trying to go higher than 1.32v on vNb to. 1.35-1.37v vcore.

temps on motherboard is between 40 and 45 maximum.

I cant have 450mhz stability! i am tryng to play with nbGtls and nbSkew to see what happens. but i am trying 450mhz with 1,2v vtt and nb and higher...

vTT i am sure that 1.3-1.36v give me stabilty, but i cant go on vNB.

It primes, pass on almost all tests on IBT, but it cant do Superpi.., and sudenly freezes...
