    Talking [Team.AU] Corsair Dominator 2 DDR3 Tripple Channel 1866MHz 8-8-8-24 1.65v in da house

Corsair's got some new RAM coming out which you would have probably seen in a recent announcement

what they forgot to mention is some of the other goodies they are working on at the moment...how about some low voltage CAS8 1866MHz sticks FTW

    Corsair Part# TR3X3G1866C8D
    3GB tripple channel kit
    Voltage: 1.65vdimm
    Latency: 8-8-8-24
    Speed: 1866MHz

oh but that's not all...............they are also working on some TEC RAM coolers as well ... more info about the here

    Some yum yum RAM RAM!
I wonder how far this would clock @low voltage, exceeding rated speeds...

this RAM cooler does not come standard with any sticks from corsair

these particular modules are rated at such speeds on normal air setup....from what i've seen in the past they didnt even run fans on their modules when they bin them

Dang, $230 is not bad for 6 GB of some quality DDR3...it's about time for DDR3 to be affordable.

Seems that bit-tech found out how you can safely put your dram higher.

    Read this:

While Asus and Intel (rightly) scare everyone (read: uneducated) into thinking that 1.65V on the DRAM voltage should be the absolute limit before you reach for the fire-blanket, all that's really needed it to obey this: keep the CPU uncore voltage within 0.5V difference of the DRAM voltage and there's no problem. Over this potential difference and you’ll greatly increase the chance of CPU death, but it certainly won't happen instantly in a big ball of fail fire if you make a mistake.

anyone that owned an AMD CPU would know this but is it really hard to be sure with a different manufacturer built on different process

do they actually have any testing proof. what do they base their opinion on?

i've also been told that cooling will compensate for extra volts by someone close to intel

we'll only really know once a few months of proper benching pass and what users here report i guess

Good news indeed. I am hoping for some good clocks, should have my setup here later in the month.

@DINOS, what board do you suggest i get, Asus P6T, MSI Eclipse, or Gigabyte X58, Intel DX58SO???? Thanks.

i've just sent an email to the editor regarding this

    Hi guys

I read an article written by Richard Swinburne published on 6th Nov 2008 called “Overclocking Intel’s Core i7 920” and found a statement on page 3 which I would like some more information from the author

Richard is discussing voltages in bios and specifically talking about QPI/DRAM Voltage and actual DRAM Voltage and stating that CPU uncore voltage should be kept within 0.5V difference of the DRAM Voltage. I would like to know where Richard has gotten this information from. Is it possible to elaborate more on this or link to material Richard is referencing here please.

    Here is the original quote/link:

    http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/200...-core-i7-920/3

QPI/DRAM Voltage - 1.35V: This is poorly worded by Asus - it should read uncore or QPI/memory controller voltage so not to confuse it with the actual memory voltage. Increasing this is also necessary as it helps overclock the base frequency as the uncore area overclocks increase in relation to the CPU core overclocks. This voltage is tied to actual DRAM voltage - the two are directly connected on the motherboard. You'll need to increase this to keep the CPU safe.

DRAM Voltage - 1.66V: This is the closest to the 1.65V the Corsair Dominator DIMMs wanted and it's within the 0.5V Uncore difference.

I hope to hear from you when you soon.

    Cheers

    Dino
[EDIT] Richard confirmed Francois gave him the information in an interview
