I'm just running linpack just did 50 runs 45 passed just running 20 then I'll post up screens I'm at 4.2 on a evga 780i at 1.36 vcore shall try for higher my top temp after 50 runs was 62 ram running at 1120mhz @ 2.15 v. My temps are only 3 degrees higher than at 4ghz I am well shocked. Shall I push higher this will be for 24/7 use.

    Hey Sniipe!

Yeah these X48 are tough to tweak! Right now I'm very happy with the setup running above 4200Mhz with only 1.31vcore. Memory Read , Right, and Copy are above 10,100 Everest points also.

I could boot and use most of Windows apps and games with +483 Fsb already but volts are not where I want them to be. I had to disassemble the Cryo again because my condo is changing all the windows for winter. So more testing results will come.

Did you try my GTL settings using clunk's table (67%)? They sure helped me get it to boot after 475fsb.

Those wont work properly because there is a slight difference between cores 1/2 and 0/3 real values so the GTL's will always look like this example: 140/130/100 (1.553vtt).

thanks for that, I'll maybe try to OC some more on this board. Unfortunately I feel little motivation to spend the time tweaking when a p45 board is in my near future, either the avenger or the DFI UT P45-T3RS

Yes it must be a joke... Your post is really informative and helpful han? We don't even know what hardware your using....

On the other hand I was helping a friend with Q9650 GTL Ref values...

    8hrs Prime95 Blend@4218Mhz:

And a quick Linpack with lower vcore:

how did you manage to drop your vcore for linpack i have always had to raise mine for it. plus i found six will pass but if you try for 20+ when it passes 6 then somtimes it will fail.even more so for a gaming rig as it will be fine for a few hours then just bsod or crash the game. and you lose that last ten mins you where doing. just a tip i found out for you mate

I used IBT for Burn-In and conditioning the CPU but somehow it needs less vcore then Prime95.

I have been able to run IBT 24/7 and fail Prime95 with 3hrs. So I'm sticking with 6 passes IBT just for a quick check and 8hrs PRime95 blend test.

To be stable with Crysis or other heavy 3D Games you will only need to pass 3DMark01, 05 and 06 you don't even need to prime or IBT the machine...

The key for lower vcores is GTL Ref fine tuning.

my board is some what diffrent to all yours mine has 4 gtl ref which i got told to set all to 85 which seems to do the trick getting to 4.2 stable on 780i chipset is quite rear on a quad. all i do if you want to save some time and power is run 50 IBT then if its 100% you will never have a problem. are you running ddr @ your 4.2 6 runs in IBT my times are like 640 seconds where yours are 552?

    DDR2@ 586Mhz 5-5-5-5-14-50 11 11 Performance Level = 6.

This was just a 1st attempt, still have a lot of head room to improve there.

Nice work here guys.. and what do you mean use MSN.. this is a thread for talking about the Q9650, and thats exactly what everyone is doing here. lol. . are you kidding.

Sergio. Good Luck on your Chip. Well done on getting a Great chip for your computer. you will NOT be unsatisfied. You will absolutely love this chip. they rock. I've seen 1.1100 VID's and high bad ones like mine at 1.2500 VID's. and A and B chips, they all do 4.2 Ghz or so with a half decent Mobo. They rock. I could not get over 3.8 ghz stable on my Q6700, but this Q9650 just shreds everything.

Enjoy your excellent investment. (Well not really investment with computer tech.) but enjoy your good purchase. I know I am.

Nice clocks everyone. I just got a new PSU, the PCP&C 750w Quad. I've said this a thread back. but I've yet to install this. usually I get new parts and everything gets dropped and I throw it in my system ASAP. but I've just been soo busy with family, work, and my new Nikon D40 DSLR that I have not had time. I also just got a TRUE cooler that I've not installed yet either. lol. As soon as I add both of these items. I'll do some HARD pushing instead of this simple and weak 4.2 ghz stuff.. See how far my 750i can really go. It's done better than most have told me it will already. So we'll see.

    Thanks!

Ive currently got a Maximus Formula motherboard (X38) and Im wondering if i should sell my QX9650 for the Q9650 or Q9550.

Now I've currently hit a FSB wall of 425 with my QX on the X38 board. Would the Q9650 with its E0 stepping hit the same wall on my board? And what of the Q9550?

Just wondering if anyones migrated from a QX and found that they have improved their FSBs

    Thanks

Guys I just got my Q9650. My batch is L827B623 with pack date of 09/25/08. Got mine from mwave since they were throwing in a free assasin's creed game I am still waiting on my case (Antec P182) and Xigmatek S1283 cooler to come. Along with that, I will be pairing a PC P&C 750W, Corsair 8500 DDR2. I am still stuck on the choice of motherboard and have narrowed it down to Asus Rampage Formula or the new Gigabyte EP45 UD3P. I think the Rampage should go over 500 FSB though the EP45 seems to do it easily. But then the EP45 has fried a few dual cores and that makes me a nervous camper.
