They (high/unlocked multi) were not needed to push the CPU's to their max on air/water.
na there was quite a big difference between a Q9550 and a QX9650.

Q9550 only have a 8,5 multi -> for 4ghz you need a fsb of 470mhz, and not many P35/X38 did that with a quad.
