I'd say the race pretty much ended when you got the first 3 people requesting a team and got Angra too. Other than RR and myself, there appear to be no other motivated XS members. Your recent recruiting efforts are the nail in the coffin. It's not racing anymore. I realize your efforts are within the rules but I don't see paying an $800 power bill in December for a predetermined outcome. I see myself folding early. It's already a done deal despite tomorrows UPS deliveries.

No, No, No, That's not the spirit...Don't think like that, Angra output is 1/2 what it could be, any rig / farm can go down. Remember the Huoston Hurricane during our last race how it affected several folders. Anything can happen and it's early in the race. You can always look at it as how you do vs. xxx

WHAT? How can you give up? Whiskey was pretty much out of race behind by what was it...70k points? Look what we've accomplished. Go out there and recruit some people! I am talking to some people on irc in the channel I hang out in a lot, trying to convince them to either make their own username and join in or just use mine and contribute to me. Either way, a race is a race until the end. And remember, second is still better than last.

well, I for one can understand what WFO is saying... the team numbers are mismatched, and the team with the most members keeps adding more members and now have almost as much as the other 2 teams combined... and I would completely understand if he wants to reduce his powerbill for the month, I couldn't afford it either.. his is more than 3 times what mine is. if you need to reduce your folders and conserve some electricity wfo, then I completely understand.


that being said I think it doesn't matter who wins this thing... I think the winners are the ones who participate and make this thread fun to watch.

I realize my post above seems like sour grapes. If any of you remember my posts in the first race thread, I pointed out a 4 week contest is too long. My hardware at the time exceeded my ability to pay to run it a full month.
( bleep PG&E) I liked the 2 week sprint because it helped keep things affordable. Somewhere in the beginning of this thread I predicted 2 million points in 22 days. I said: "After that, I'll be running on fumes." Loose translation... "if my team had a shot, I'd find a way to run till the end." The charts may not show it yet but by my calculations the race is already over. I'll put up the projected 2 million and shut down to keep things affordable.

Kids/Christmas... those that are or have been married know the drill.

Mike: “Wfo, didn’t you write a program that would skim points from Whiskey and Tango and deposit them in Foxtrot’s account?

Wfo: “Everyday they upload hundreds of thousands of points. My program rounds down the remainder’s and deposits them in our account. They are just very small fractions so they will never be noticed. Over time… say the course of the Halloween race those points would add up to the winning margin."

hey WFO, folding is a great thing to do and all but don't over extend yourself just to win a silly— I mean, serious, race. anyone who actually pays their own power bill knows that folding with multiple rigs is no joke and I personally would not lose any respect for anyone who cut down their folding from there maximum capacity because of it. Besides, presents & family come first

you've already awed us with your capability. And I know that if someone ever passes gas in your general direction, all you need to do is rev the engine to scare them away I'm just glad you're on team XS

just do what you can reasonably do wfo.. there's no need to go above your budget for a silly points race.. you've already turned on more points than I will the entire race... so scale it down to what you're comfortable with and forget about the points... just participate and stay in the game... before you and RR showed up, we had never seen +100k ppd.. so that's quite an accomplishment in itself.. people look up to you for it...

that last race (laborday) you got caught in the "FAIR" web and had your points split, which in itself was not fair. I'm just glad we don't have to obey the "FAIR" rule again this race, which will most likely result in teams being out gunned.. but that's just part of the game.... if I were you, I'd scale back my power budget so that it's in an acceptable affordable range.... this race pays no prize money.. but it will reward everyone with fun experince that participates, wether it's 1kppd or 100kppd...

Careful review of the above posts reveal I can keep the hammer down for 21-22 days before I'm sucking fumes. We aren't there yet. UPS arrives tomorrow so I'm still looking at 1.5 weeks WFO.
