    It's 67°C , not 72°C - CT is reporting wrong Tj.Max, it should be 100°C.

I've got one E84 before month or two. It's Q821A165 but the weird thing is that it's not E0 stepping and it sucks. I need more than 1.32V for 24/7

I got an E8400 EO, but I think it was a lemon. It would continually crash my system when benching and was not stable at 4.25 GHz with 1.37v load (1.4v set in bios). I have had 5 different E8400/E3110 and used the similar setup procedures and that one was a dud.

But subsequently I bought a used computer (AOpen) that had a Xeon E3110 in it (with a P5K-VM, 2G Ballistix 8500 & OCZ 500w for $250). Turns out this Xeon is a Golden Chip compared to the other Wolfdale's I had. It has a 1.225v max. VID.

I put the Xeon in my main P5K-Deluxe rig, and have it running at 4.25 GHz at 1.34v, which is way better than my other chips at similar voltages. I got up to 545FSB @ 8.5 multi (while running 4 x 1G sticks of Ballistix 8500). None of the other processors including the EO, could not go higher than 513 FSB, even with higher voltages.

The downside of this Xeon C0 is it runs very hot, reaching 72C while benching. On the other hand my dud E0 got only to 58C full load...until it crashed.

My bios settings are: cpu 1.375v; ram 2.0v; VTT 1.2v; PLL 1.5v; NB 1.25v; SB 1.05v. Transaction Boost Level "2", everything else pretty much Auto.

I only had time for minimal testing so far, but will see what it can really do this weekend.

Try posting that in the Intel section, not in this thread to keep it on topic

People need more info like what you are using, RAM and speed, volts, vtt etc. also what cooling. but id suggest making a thread in the intel section if u want the answers

    I've been confused so far - I've had the pleasure of owning 2 E8500 (one C0 and 1 E0) and 1 C0 E8400 - plus my current e8600

And not one of those chips would even think about being stable at 4.5ghz - I tried up to 1.45v and to no avail - its not an issue of FSB by any means

All kinds of people are hitting 4.5ghz on much lower voltages and I'm not even stable at higher .... ???

    am I just unlucky ?

Believe me it is'nt that bad bein on air as long as the Temp in the house stays cool..In the summer..i keep my house central air at 69c all summer long but my rig is sitting under a air vent so my two 120mm's blue Led's are sucking in the central air the volts on your cpu is kinda high..I guess it will be on a gigabyth board but there boards have VDrops..I got mine at 1.350 in the bios but it dropped to 1.312 sometimes 1.280 oc'd 3.3ghz that's all...Is that a CO or a EO stepping you got? try not shot and hold to much volts to your cpu 24/7.i would'en like to see you run back to the store buy another..I know the E8400 is rated at 1.362v max

Don't get the reference - that is for a P45 board - while I have the P5K Deluxe

The issue doesn't seem to be my board but an issue with the chips - I'm near ready to do a death kill run just to see if some maxed voltages help
