No, it is not fake, turbo mode will take the CPU up to 22 if you are in single threaded mode, it will go back down if you use more than 1 core.

2 Bin turbo up if single threaded, 1 bin turbo up if multithreaded, of course, it is only if you do not product more thermal power than what is set as TDP.

So if you have one single threaded benchmark you can always count on the +2 turbo, and a multi threaded benchmark will fall back on +1. Might be handy in a few cases to force the affinity on one core if it's multi threaded but both threads don't place more then 50% load on a core? Not sure, can't know now can I

Makes some sence, some benchmarks benefit from mhz but don't load a core fully.

5 to 10% OC is not that much is it ?...my 286 was going from 10 to 12 mhz with turbo mode
would 20% be too much technically due to modifying other parameters in bios?

btw would it make sense to deactivate HT and remain quad thread to lower voltage / wattage need of the platform or would it be marginal ?

so how long turbo mode last? a few minutes, a few hours, or many hours as long as only 1 or 2 cores are used?

So basically you're saying it takes the CPU to 11? Sorry, couldn't resist
