Probably a question that deserves its own thread?

Actually, just drop it one notch at a time until you are stable.
    I set up ocz flex 9200's and flex 9600's on EP45-Extreme using 0.660v MCH Ref 1200Mhz DDR2 @ 2.1V
Does your ram fail blend if MCH ref is at 0.760 ? I have packaged the cpu for sale atm as i have given up, but if yours also fail at 0.760 i might give it another try.

It did a short memtest but not for long, i shall try and leave it to get past 5 and 7.

@slovnaft,that what i was talking abouton the volts(vtt, pll) if i try anything lower at fsb above 430 no boot.this is with e8400 and my e8500.at 430 fsb i can set vtt@1.2,vnb@1.2 and it boots right up. the when i up the fsb to say 438 no boot oc failure. then i try vnb@1.22-1.30,and vtt@1.2-1.4 no boot. have to set at least 1.42vtt 1.3 vnb.and pllhas to be at 1.57or above

so try setting mch core (vnb) to 1.5v and, leaving everything else where it is, see where that gets you with fsb. All my high fsb has been achieved with VNB over 1.5, and to get my max (543 on a quad) i need 1.8v, which gets scary hot on air =]

Yes it would fail and was very unstable with higher MCH Ref.
I built this for my friend, so it's not mine, but i believe i couldn't boot into windows properly, as some startup objects would fail to load properly, like kaspersky and vista sidebar gadgets would crash.

Bios settings You will notice that some voltages entered in bios, give a completely different value in ET6.
MCH Ref of 0.723V entered in bios, gives me 0.660V in ET6

FYI, this overclock would intermittently revert back to default bios settings when the pc was started from a shutdown state.
Reloading the settings from a saved profile would boot into windows every time though.
    I have since changed the overclock to: 7.5x 500FSB for 3,750Mhz, DDR2 1200Mhz using 2.40B x
vtt down to 1.30V, PLL down to 1.50V, Vcore down to 1.3625V
    ROCK SOLID now.

P.S. Looking at your memory timings, it seems you are letting the bios take care of the memory settings.
I would change all mem timings/subtimings manually to this: (for starters)
DRAM Timing Selectable ................: [Manual] [Auto]
    Standard Timing Control
    CAS Latency Time........................: 5
    tRCD .........................................: 5
    tRP'...........................................: 5
    tRAS..........................................: 18
    Advanced Timing Control [Press Enter]
    tRRD...........................................:4
    tWTR..........................................:4
    tWR............................................:8
    tRFC...........................................:42
    tRTP...........................................:4
    Command Rate (CMD) ....................:Auto
    Channel A
    Static tRead Value.........................:10
    tRD Phase0 Adjustment..................:Auto
    tRD Phase1 Adjustment...................:Auto
    tRD Phase2 Adjustment .................:Auto
    tRD Phase3 Adjustment..................:Auto
    Trd2rd(Different Rank)....................:9
    Twr2wr(Different Rank)...................:9
    Twr2rd(Different Rank)...................:8
    Trd2wr(Same/Diff Rank)..................:10
    Channel B
    Static tRead Value.........................:10
    tRD Phase0 Adjustment..................:Auto
    tRD Phase1 Adjustment...................:Auto
    tRD Phase2 Adjustment .................:Auto
    tRD Phase3 Adjustment..................:Auto
    Trd2rd(Different Rank)....................:9
    Twr2wr(Different Rank)...................:9
    Twr2rd(Different Rank)...................:8
    Trd2wr(Same/Diff Rank)..................:10
P.S.S. Is your flex kit 2x2GB or 4x1GB? If it's the latter, try with just the two ram modules as a test.

Saw this over at Tweak Town and had to share: (One frame of side bar Flash Ad)

Links to this video You-Tube Video
(I could swear, I worked with the guy in the video, the sound of his voice and the way he talks is just like a guy I worked with for 5 years)

You know your on to a winner when the competition starts a smear campaign against the key feature of your new product range, Gigabyte must be loving this.

Ive just tried lowering or upping the mch ref but i cannot even post with anything but auto. I had to clear cmos as it would never recover from the bad overclock. I also tried your exact ream timings and no go.

    Im running 2x2GB btw.

I have been worried the high auto settings on this board has just degraded my cpu as it wouldnt even blend with a modest overclock. Ive just re-installed my old x38 maximus formula and its nice and happy priming @ 4ghz again with the same 1.216v ... phew!

    RMA time for the UD3P.

Finally got my replacement board today....all I've got to say is..............kick ass!!!!! I tried to borrow some of the settings Slovnaft had in his ET6 since we have similar systems but I kept getting lockups/crashes. Turns out I can't put much to the ICH core. Anything more than 1.45 locks the system hard. It's kind of late and I'm running OCCT but I will get some settings up this weekend. Currently half an hour OCCT stable at 450x8 on a Q9450@1.3v

    First Build

I am putting together my first build right now and was planning on getting the EP45-UD3P as the backbone of my system.

I have never overclocked, but would like to get the most out of my system which will be mostly used as a media center, downloading, storing and playing movies and music as well as some editing and photoshop etc.

Will this board easily allow me to change settings and get the best out of my pc without too much involvement in the overclocking process? It seems pretty daunting as I read more and more about it.

Here is what my setup should look like (waiting til Black Friday to get best deals):

    Thermaltake ArmorPlus(Armor+) VH6000BWS
    GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 Wolfdale
    mushkin 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
    VisionTek 900241 Radeon HD 4850 512MB PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready
    OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXSSLI 700W ATX12V
    Seagate Barracuda ES.2 ST3250310NS 250GB 7200 RPM (OS & Programs)
    Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST31500341AS 1.5TB 7200 RPM (Media)
    ZALMAN CNPS 9700 NT

Your thoughts, suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Rig

I think those are too expensive. Trying to keep the cost down around $1K.

As far as overclocking is concerned, are there optimized settings in the Motherboard BIOS that you can set and forget or will I have to spend alot of time overclocking to get a good boost?

    Thanks.

it seems that 790i Ultra took out my gem E8600 rather than this board...one of the mosfests was semi-blown .... black around one side....swollen or missing solder points all over .. that was a good board ...wish i could repair it

i have a new CPU and will do some tests this weekend
i've done some testing last night and can bench 32M SuperPi at 4.8GHz with 1.44v real loaded and 1.47v real for 3DMARK1/3/5 with EP45 Extreme air cooled in 21-22C ambient

i've soldered a read point for vcore on the back of the board for this UD3P and will see what happens to vcore while benching

Hello guys am new to Gigabyte boards and I was hoping that someone could help me situate the BIOS. I am not new to OCing but just to the Gigabyte brand BIOS. I am not sure which voltage options is the NB, and I am not to sure about some of the other voltages. I would also like to know what the Reference voltages do. I mean the CPU ref. voltage, MCH ref. voltage, MCH/DRAM ref. voltage, and the channel A&B ref. voltage? I would like to know what the MCH and ICH are? Does this represent the NB & SB? Thanks a lot for your help guys I hope I am not being to much a bother. I was also curious about a newer BIOS where can I get the F5 BIOS and is it worth getting. I am still on the original and the website doesn't have an update yet.

    hmmm

550 seems to be max i can do with it atm
anyone else using GMH based ICs
i'm on corsair PC10000 dominators here

even at auto i cant boot much past 550 and in windows it also becomes unstable past 570

i can boot to bios past 600 but as soon as it starts to load OS it bombs out instantly
i tested the chip last night on EP45 Extreme and could bench at 620 in windows on air

Same here with board #1 It would boot into bios at 600 but as soon as OS loads bsod or black screen. Tried everything but nothing, only way to get into OS was with ~500 FSB max. Got a second board, set 6x600 and into XP right away. All other hardware same, D9's as wel (Ballistix).

Hell I cannot boo tinto windows past 425 FSB. I can boot into the BIOS at 500 but as soon as Vista is about to load, it goes right back to post. I am thinking about sending it back to NEwegg and having them send me another one.

After readinthis whole thread I decided to try out what I learned and I can only boot to Windows at 425 FSB. If anyone has any suggestions please let me here them.
