    790FXB-M2RSH Bios modding??

    Hey Guys,

although I do not have this board, i'm highly interested in things going on with those DFI boards.

On Forumdeluxx Germany, some ppl are trying to mod the m2rsh bios to get access to the cpu nb-vid via modbin. All they found was these options:

    Memory VDDQ
    Memorty VTT
    CPU VDDC

    NPT Vid content

do you have any thoughts on this?

Another issue: Someone found out that there was a plastic foil under the heatpipe assembly of his DFI JR and his nb thus went to 80°C easily... Any experience with this over here as well?

Hossa, that explains why some boards have such high temps. Will check the JR at work next week, but i'm pretty sure i'll find such a foil.

Thought VDDC is VCore = VID * factor + offset. Can be it's the factor or offset part also. BKDG refers to VCore as VDD i think.

lol, 80°C would make me think as well xD

and yeah, i thought no cpu-nb option between them.. perhaps they do not show vddc because its the result of the other options.

whatever, nb-vid option would be nice..

I never tried because i had the 790FX before which had similar chipset temps and i tried to reseat the cooler with AS5 without benefits there.

I found abit of info on german wikipedia related to VDDQ, seems to be same as vDIMM.

I would be very interested in this kinda scared to go over 1.5V on my board because of the imc.

Merlin unfortunately now long was not seen there. I know him from dfi nf4 times and we tried to convince him to take a look at the cfx bios.

But he as well seems to be a bit tired of all those people that want mods from him.. whatever, worth a try. I'll pm him.. Thanks campbell!

@ jaivan: do you think cpu-nb vid is indeed coupled to vcore? that would be better i think then no adjustment at all. i'm not sure and as i dont have this board.. in theory one must measure all the phases on the cpu side. if all are the same in case of a set vcore of say 1,4, i think chances are good that nb and vcore are the same. I think its a single dedicated phase for nb as well as on the other boards?

@ justapost: yeah, when talking about grafics cards, i think vddq is often used in this sense...

@ justapost: many thx! thats very helpful.

so one would have to look for vddnb. if it isnt there, it seems to be an single-plane platform.. one could check that through voltage measurements as well it seems..

Picked up the DFI JR from work and looked for that foil. Found one removed it and i get the exact same chipset temps.
Guess it's save to use the DFI with a condom.

You might be right it might explain why I cannot overclock my NB that much.

sry, meant pwm. Tested with 9850BE at 2.8GHz/1.425V. Ran CoreDamage for 15minutes. In both tests the pwm temps where ~56°C with CPU temps ~60°C. Did test in a case and used the XIG for aircooling. Also had the passive chipset heatsink mounted. Can be that heatsink's improvements superposes the foil improvements.

ok but 56°C is ok for the pwms I think..

BTW NEW BIOS OUT FOR M2RSH

    Major Reasons of Change:
    1、 Added CPU_NB_VID Item.

2、 fixed can not invoke Onboard RAID when use ATI 4870x2 & 3870x2 display card(Added Raid Invoke mode Item).

Oese, where exactly are these stated? DFI's 9/30 says only
    Major Reasons of Change:
    Fixed Chipset Temperature detected error.
