    Hey Bill;
Is that supposed to be on air?
I define air as air not enclosed by a minus 50C freezer just to define it better.

18.2% or 22.3% difference depending on what you take as the base. Most would take that as ballpark 20%. 30%? Only Intel employees and Shintai
Dude, Francois clearly said 30% in games, and the highest clocked Yorkfields are in fact often 30% or more faster in games.

Give the man some respect, its not like he's coming on these forums and spreading FUD.

I don't have a problem with company reps like Intel or OCZ posting here but trash-talking business rivals and using fanboi-math is distasteful and inappropriate. Getting too cosy eventually corrupts - remember Novak or Judith Miller? Or the newly-saccharine Bob Woodward?
I went back and read the thread, Dr. Who? was clearly talking about games, and in pure gaming code, 30% is on average around what you can expect -- this, again, is when comparing in the CPU limited regime in order to compare the architectural efficiency at just gaming code on the CPU.

Phenom does much better with less 'branchy' applications, and in applications where latency and throughput are more important -- such as H264 encoding. When you lump it all together it brings a weighted performance metric into the 20% range or so.

You probably owe Dr. Who? an apology -- he did not post anything that was factually incorrect.

When a large company uses these types of forums to spread the word about their products, it's a privilege for them to be allowed to post, not a favor they bestow on the forum.
    Typical response from an AMDroid.

Why don't you go back and read what he said? And don't call him a fanboi because the only fanboi I see here is you.

    Gentlemen:
Remember, lets be nice here. Things work so much better when we remember "Friends first" OK?

My thoughts on people coming to Xs and talking about their products:
We live in a world where people buy items based on knowledge of them.
When these "informed" people come here and talk about their products sure they hope to benefit from that information being spread to us but at the same time we benefit from what they tell us.
It is a two way street but I do believe we owe them a pleasant and respectful atmosphere in which to conduct this exchange of information.
Now there are many knowledgeable people here and some very good questions have been asked and to the best of his ability and also what he allowed to say prior to the NDA being lifted I think he's been more than candid with us.
There's another thing that needs to be said about Francois Piednoel that hasn't been touched on here. In talking with him I've had the chance to see into his personality a bit.
He isn't the hard nosed businessman that is here hoping to rape our pockets of money but like many of us is a hardware junky that just plain loves the hobby and also happens to have the "dream job" for someone with his interests.
I guarantee you no one is holding a gun to his head to come and post here but it's being done by his choice to inform us all.
    Last just think on this:
Can you imagine the demands on his time in his job just prior to a release but he still comes here?
Says a lot about the man's character to me and I hope to you.
Think on that a bit please and God's truth, I'd be saying this same thing if he worked for AMD instead of Intel.
    Thanks for reading.

Where did you actually read this? Every single benchmark I've seen points to the opposite - which isnt really hard for me to believe, just the hyperthreading (dunno what they call it now) is going to make quite a big difference in such a highly multithreaded application..

Dutch I'm told is harder to learn for a foreigner then English for a Dutchie. But I don't really understand, since French and German for instance are much harder to learn because they have more rules to follow. I think when you grow up with a language it's diffrent, we humans tend to have our best moments in aquiring a language at a very young age.

Son is almost 1 1/2, we're trying to read to him in both Dutch and English as his grandad lives in the states and English in general is a very handy language to be somewhat fluent in.

Enough OT... NDA over already MM?

I'm interested in seeing scaling and effect of ocing the l3 cache in crunching applications, hope you will have some numbers on that

I'll leave the general benchmarks to gorrilakos, but I want the rundown on how it crunches from you
