the copper plated thingy on the back is a small square cut out of something i pulled off the back of a gigabyte motherboard (it was under the CPU socket) - insulated from the back of the gfx card with foam soaked in silicon based TIM material. the metal v was part of a s939 stock heatsink. and a bit of very taut builder's twine with a dab of superglue to stop it slipping around holds it together

if you do something similar remember to scrape the bottom of the screws with a file or some rough sandpaper. the glue holds much better. if you use the glue on a shiny metal surface that has a layer of oil from your finger on it some of the screws will fall right off if what they're attached to gets jolted
(and i'd guess the thermal interface can't be so great either)
Omg, those memory and PWM heatsinks...

Mr. "Graphics card": First Day of Spring Quarter.

It all started while someone was cleaning out the dust bunnies. He decided to make use of an old heatsink.

A graphics card was getting ready to go back to school. Week 1 of Spring quarter.

While walking to school, he met three nasty screwdriver bullies. They popped off the graphic card's heatsink.

He was unwilling to let go of his heatsink.

So the big screwdriver gave the graphic card a good beating.

He had to get to school on time. Just in case of another bunch of bullies ahead, he went to get his silver armor.

And borrowed his big brother's heatsink.

This time, he secured his big brother's heatsink with badass black threads.

And armed with a threatening-looking fan.

The graphics card was once again ready to continue his journey to school.

Other PCI cards students were scared of him so they changed seats.

Instead of being intimidated by the graphics card, the USB thingys were attracted to his big fan.

So, the USB thingys were all over his fan for it vibrates when it becomes turned on.

The graphics card thinks to himself, "This is the best lecture ever."

And the fan on the CPU heatsink died of jealousy.

    The End

Have a wonderful quarter/semester back at school. :p

here is my mod... slapped on a alphacool naxxxos XP waterblock on to my 260gtx + an old heatsink from a geforce 2

desided to put a 80mm fan on the heatsink to keep things nice and cool.

heres what it did to my clock speeds pretty good i would say the temps are around 30c constantly. the card has no volt mods

How about modding 7600GS and adding some parts [MOSFET and a lot of capacitors, from really small to really BIG]?
MOSFET is from dead Gf6600, because comparing 7600GS and 7600GT, both by Palit, there was clearly one MOSFET missing .
The rest is mostly for fun, no spectacular results unfortunately, but I'm still working on it .

That soldering was done by a friend of mine, I'm still learning [slowly...]. It is not that bad - at least it works . And that was the main idea, not to do it perfect in every aspect .
And now "the leg of the capacitor" [for voltage measuring] is not only on the PCB .

In fact it is much more "clear" than that :

worked flawlessly [Commando; 100k VR + 8.2k resistor]

Man some nice Ghetto-mods in here Here's a small list of mines... With pics (clickable).

    The famous 9800Pro-Keychain-mod

Installation of a VF1000 with a decent VRM-cooler attached (Stock heatsink)

Often stock-coolers really do come handy...

Really mitched a notch there.. but it fitted and worked. As paste i used the stuff thats wrapped between the memory and the stock-cooler.. Really works well. Tightend it together with the screws and it works like a charm

    Final result

This was more of an experiment ... :

Yes, attaching CCFL's towards my TFT. Used an old 12V DC powersupply of a cablemodem which delivered up to 1A. This was the result:

    Pretty nice back then...

My first watercooling.... Wraps of garbagebags.. rofl

Soldering new caps on a fried 2600Pro...

Untill i figured out this was'nt the correct side of the card, my heatsink woud'nt fit no more

Later on, a boostermod, since the PCI-express slot cannot deliver more then 75watts:

Alot of people might wonder why the hell an Athlon 64 IHS was doing on a vidcard.. It would protect the core from being chrushed by my vapochill. Really cool temps, -29 at load / 1200MHz core. This was a 8600GT btw.

Dangerden Maze 3 waterblock on a X1950Pro with 2 screws
