Die-shrink from G80-> G92 reduced hole spacing back to the G7 spacing dimensions. I can hope that worst-case scenario means that the new mount spacing for 55nm will be G80 span. I need a better selection of mounting plates for coolers....

Base on the previews post about the time line we still have 2 to 4 days for the successor but a bit odd that we know so little about this successor when the G200 came out we already know the specification of the architecture 2 weeks in advance, the reviewers who were under NDA was already briefed ahead of time and review samples was send before the released date but maybe they are going for the last minute who knows all we can do is wait.
    In progress......

it's 7 minutes into the 22nd here and still no news lol.

on a serious note though i think that there is no new card based on the lack of evidence other than hearsay. Although I'm completely open to being wrong and in fact hope so

nV NDA usually lifts at 2pm on launch day in the UK, so if something happens on the 22nd, maximum 24 hours to wait Im not sure about Australia obviously...maybe you guys find out and can tell us...14 hours?

Didnt OBR insist that somthing HUGE is coming this month from NV, of course NDA wouldnt allow more info.
Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.

    Rule 1A:
Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.

    Rule 2:
When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.

    Rule 2A:
When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.

Remember: When debating online, everyone else is ALWAYS wrong if they do not agree with you!

NVIDIA has at least three high-end chips in development right now. You have all heard about the GT206, also known as GT200b in the press. As we predicted back in May, this would be a part of the Fall/Winter refresh and it is due any day now. Specifications are of course sparse but expect a tweaked GT200 core running cooler and faster, it's all good. After GT206, there is a GT212 core on roadmaps. There are rumors that this will be the first NVIDIA chip with GDDR5, but I wouldn't bet on it. It should arrive in Q2 2009.

Considering how much time, money and energy AMD has put into GDDR4 and GDDR5, we just don't see NVIDIA getting its hands on chips anytime soon. Instead we would expect another tweaked GT200 chip, but this is of course mostly speculation at this point. Specifications have been hard to come by.

Sources has informed us of another chips that is in the works. NVIDIA is also working on GT216 which is said to be the first chip to reach the market using TSMC's 40nm process. It will go up against AMD's RV870 chip and should hit the market at about the same time. That time is late Q2 2009, or early Q3. There are rumors that this chip will be DirectX 11 compatible, which would put it even with RV870 in terms of DX support.

Both AMD and NVIDIA is hoping to have taped out each chip before the end of the year, which then correlates with the launch six months later.

This fella usually knows a lot:

I can't believe this bull came from this:

A refresh of the gtx280.. rofl that doesn't mean a new core does it..

I see what I see, and you see what you see. I can't make you see what I see, but I can tell you what I see is not what you see. Truth is, we see what we want to see, and what we want to see is what those around us see. And what we don't see is... well, conspiracies.

8800GT released a year ago, but yeah, I know exactly what you're saying.

I bought my last PC when Core2Duo came out. Gigabyte DS3, e6300, 850xt, 2GB of RAM... I did upgrade the 850xt to 8800GT and the CPU to Q6600, but everything else is still the same. And by the looks of it, it will be for a while. Crysis works fine maxed at 1680x1050 (no aa though), Far Cry 2 looks to be optimized well and should run maxed at the same resolution. Nothing to bring down my old rig to its knees yet.

    But not the best single-GPU.
And btw in US it's somewhat like 3AM? You expect nVida to make some press conference, or whatever at 3AM? : E
